My bad

For the past 6 or 7 weeks I have been craving something sweet and gooey. You all know I can't eat sweets because I dump so easily. Well bugger it. Tonight I stopped by the store and bought an apple pie and a tub of ice cream. I just finished eating my pie and ice cream and sure enough I can feel a good dumping session coming on. Got that bubbly kind of churning feeling in my pouchy.  Oh well, some thjings are worth it. This will cure my sweet tooth for the next couple of months and if the dumping is really bad it will turn me off pie and ice cream for months. Got my pillow and blanket all ready. Not too fussy about the nausea and cramps though but I'll live to eat again.  What doesn't kill ya makes you stronger. LOL  I just wanted to share my bad!

UPDATE. Ate the pie and small bit of ice cream. Had dumping session. Not too bad. Was a bit nauseated, lightheaded, sweaty, felt miserable and finally sleepy and fel asleep on the couch. Woke up this mornng and felt fine. yep, it was worth it. I'm good now till Christmas or longer.

Yup, thanks Abby. If you had asked me about 9pm last night if it was worth it I may have said "no". But today I would say yes because it has quelled the craving monster. I don't want anything sweet for a good long time. Sick sucks! LOL

Just thought I'd share this. Whenever I'd read Womans World magazine there are always pictures of chocolate and sweets somewhere in there. I used to look at them and think "yumm, would I ever love to have one of them". Now I look at them and thjink "yucch, boy would I ever get sick on that". Quite a difference. LOL Hope the feeling lasts for a long long while.

Dumping eh......well when I feel that "sweet treat craving" coming on I treat myself to a dark chocolate Cadbury Thin choc bar. BUT I am not a sweet eater and I seldom crave sweets. Maybe that is why one of these bars satisfy me. Plus I didn't have RNY but VSG and I am not sure that we "dump". Glad you got throuh your moment of sweet insanity without too much discomfort and heres hoping it is a long time until you crave again.  Good luck and hang in there!

Sugarbear (pardon the pun of the sweet name)

Thanks Sugarbear. I would have chosen the chocolate too except for an experience I had last February with chocolate milk. I haven't had the kahoonas to try chocolate since but I think I may my next sweet craving. It will be ok I think. Ever so often now I take a bite of choco bar with no ill effects. I don't know but I don't think you can dump. i think dumping is reserved for RNYers. Not all RNYers just some.

You dont dump hon......no replumbing on ya just your sleeve- you dont malabsorb you have restriction with your slick new sleeve.... heee heee - but you dont dump! lol

I dont dump have a had a few mild episodes of not feeling so great after maybe I accidently mis-calculated sugar content but I have read that a lot of dumpers eventually dont and also read that some that dont end up being dumpers although the later is more rare.

I didnt go into this my surgery thinking I would be so I am ok that I am not - from all the long term post ops I have met and spoken too- eventually you learn to eat around it or just take it and run ......... no pun intended!

For me personally if I do too many carbs then I crave more so I keep them as mostly complex and natural sugars in fruits and veggies.... but still mostly the low carb life and can tolerate sugar alcohols so I end up having my sweet fix via sugar free stuff ........ the white carby crap makes me feel like crap and run down ........... not like a one time dumping episode just when I am getting to much refined sugars and crap my mood is down and I generally feel like ugh- so I try to avoid........ I do eat dark chocolate usually a piece once a day the actual sugar content is low but it does keep away cravings....... and its supposed to be healthy....... lol

Dark Choc is great!  Hubby turned me on to that, and if you put it in the fridge or freezer, it seems to be even better...(Don't know why)
So, my surgery will be RNY, and I have read about the dumping...how long after a sweet does this normally occur???  Just wondering...I realize its probably different for everyone tho...

Thanks!
