Let me begin by warning all of you I am exhausted so if there are any spelling mistakes, my bad.   So today was my 3rd fill. The entire team was very proud that I had lost 60 pounds since July.. After describing my restriction to Dr. Savoie, he decided go down to 0.5cc for my fills instead of 1cc.

He thinks I am very close to reaching my sweet spot and so do I. My portions are right; I get full quickly, and I am losing at a fast pace.   As of today, I have 5.5cc in my 10 cc band. He told me the band itself could hold 10cc. I have another fill scheduled on Dec 21st at 9:00am (Rachel- couldn’t get later, no spots available:(

Today was interesting to say the least. He could not find my port after numerous tries so he sent me off to Fluro. While in the waiting room, I met two other of his band patients (a guy and a girl) both around the same age as me. We began talking about our experience together and realized how very different we all are.

Me: I’m close to my sweet spot and can’t complain
Girl: Has the same band, has more cc’s than me and does not have ANY restriction, in fact, she is really discouraged and even unsure if there is a band in there. She has lost 24 pounds since surgery and can eat as much as before.
Guy: He was there today to get completely unfilled because he’s too tight. He never got a fill. He was too tight from the 3cc’s Dr. S primed at surgery and has lost like 80 pounds so far.

It’s truly amazing how everyone is different. I mentioned it to Dr. S how all three of us waiting for Fluro had a completely different experience and he said he wasn’t surprised at all because we all have different stomach anatomies.

Overall, I am on my way to reaching my goal of 70 pounds lost for Christmas!

Wohoo!

Thanks Ladies, but let me say that everyone on this board is a success!

For anyone who is having restriction issues or not losing at the pace they would like, you are not alone!

It seems that I'm one of the rare few who get restriction quickly and for that I am fortunate, but everyone on this board is working their heart out and it shows and you are all my inspiration!

Glad you had a good appt Monica - after the inital false start. It's great to meet other patients isn't it? I met a lady this past summer in Dr. B.'s waiting room - we could have talked all day! I have heard us WLS surgery patient reffered to as a "secret club". I kinda think it is. Only one who is on the journey can truly know and understand what it is all about. You are doing fantastic!

Im curious... so when do you get a fill.  I had my surgery on Nov 6th Im on puree now.  Im not seeing that much of a difference in fullness.  I eat my meal, Im ok but not full by any means.   Is this normal after surgery?  When do I get my first fill?
Im so scared of slippage???
Great for you.  That is a huge accomplishment!!!

Hi,

Glad to hear you had a uneventful surgery.

I noticed your surgeon is Dr. Beausoleil so I can't speak on his approach with fills.  From what I could gather, you call his staff when you want an appointment for a fill - ladies am I right?

My surgeon schedules you for fills every 4 weeks until you reach your sweetspot.
