Self Pay Options In NB?
Thanks for all the information and help.
I do just want to clarify why I am looking into self pay options since this seems to have brought up a debate.
Yes I am from New Brunswick and I have had a referral sent into the surgeons working in NB.
However, I am what is considered a "lightweight" apparently because my BMI just udner 40, so I am concerned that I will be rejected by medicare. Also I am concerned where I may not be top priority that my wait will be longer so I am looking into all my options.
Again, thanks for all the information :)

Hi ladies,
Pardon my "lurking" but I'm trying to pick up some info for my mom. I'm from Saint John originally and have lived in Toronto for the past 4 years. I'm having RNY on Dec. 7th here in T.O. (yaa!). My mom (in Saint John) is now interested in having WLS due to her many comorbids (3 shots of insulin a day, etc.) but neither of us have any info on what NB covers. Can you tell me, does NB cover all types of WLS or only a select few (from my lurking, it seems Lap Bands are covered?). Any other info you could give would be great (and thanks for the doctor info above, it was very helpful!).
Take care,
