Thank you so much Penelope I am certainly on my way and no looking back indeed...I am still pinching myself as I never thought I would hear from Dr. B's office this year....because in the spring I had called the office and they told me then that they were only in the 300'son the list and I was in the 1000's so I am not sure what happened there but I am jumping for joy......woooohooooo

good for you,  I am currently waiting for my OR date with Dr. B. Its been 4.5 years for me and I just wish the wait time was'nt so long. Oh well I consider myself lucky that  medicare pays for this. Dr. B's team are very friendly and will answer all your questions, and yes Dr. B seem like a nice man, he is obviously very busy, but takes the time to ask , and answer your questions. I liked him. Good luck on your weight loss journey. ps, I would try to adopt some of the rules for the lapband while you are waiting for your surgery, as it does take time to change these lifelong habits. I am doing better at not having water during meals, but it is still a struggle for me. I now drink a protein drink for a meal and enjoy them, I stocked up on some diabetic boost, and protein powder . I practise eating small bites and chew , chew , more than I ever did before, and have cut back my caffeine to one cup per day. So use the time before surgery to get yourself use to the changes you will have to  make, and hopefully it will be easier when the actual time comes ---lapband day. Hurrah for you, keep us posted how you are making out.

Thank you sandralila, yes this is going to be hard to re-program myself on how to eat differently and most of all to learn not to drinks anything during meal time...as I always love drinking my water.  What all did you do when you had your very first visit with just Dr. B?  I mean when you got the appointment date and prior to seeing him after knowing you were going to be seeing him did you start drinking the shakes before hand to loose more weight (I am probably just rambling on right now)  My appointment is November 18th and I haven't lost a whole lot of weight since my referral had been sent to him I am nervous but at the same time excited about it all.  Does Dr. B allow you to take the Diabetic Boost pre-op and if so how long do you take it for is it 2 weeks?  So many questions as I now know the crunch is on and I have to prepare for many changes.   I have already started to chew chew chew and take my time.  I am so pumped for this more then ever now.  My dream is finally coming true there is a light at the end of this journey....and so I will soon begin a new chapter in my life and a new Journey to write about.

My first visit went as follows, got registered at front desk, then down to Bariatric clinic, waited till name called , by nurse, she explained the procedure, showed me the lapband, took my weight, and medical history, and answered any questions I had, then back to waiting room, and Dr. B came and called my name, went ito small office, and he looked at the info chart the nurse had given me, and said I qualified for lap band, and gave me a goal weight, and said on average most lose 85 % of their weight, and some do better than others, but if I follow the program I would do well. He was nice, appeared busy but answered all my questions, which really were'nt many as this site has been invaluable at giving me the info I need. I felt comfortable with him. I was told my next call would be for the all day info session. It wasnt but a month when I was called with the date and time.

No one said anything about losing weight, and like an idiot, I decided to say goodbye to all the foods I knew I would not be having anymore, it was only at the all day info session I learnt they wanted us to lose weight. But at the second weigh in, when I went in to sign the OR consent form , I weighed in an extra 5 lbs. in three months. They didnt say anything other than that I had gained, but I felt embarressed,. One girl here told me they put her surgery back because she had gained, thankfully they didnt do this with me,(I think) and so now I am just waiting for the call of my OR date, and with the nutritionist, to explain the 14 day meal plan, (they reccommend a plan with drinks and bars from a company in Montreal, and it cost $190.64 . it is meal replacement drinks or  bars X 4 daily. I havent yet seen the nutritionist but talked some on the phone with her and got a little of this info. She said you lose weight prior to surgery on this plan, around 10 lbs. which shrinks the liver, the main reason why they want us on it.

When was your infor sessions?  So I take it then there are 3 meetings prior to surgery?  I think that is what the secretary said to me yesterday that the first was just with Dr B and the second was the info session the third being the signing of the consent forms and then a surgery date to follow...I am trying to loose some weight now before seeing Dr B and possibly buying some slimfast shakes or the Diabetic boost I am not sure which I should go with...so many questions now for sure..lol
