Looking for lap band support buddies......anyone
Hey there. I had lap band surgery in 2006 and am experiencing a plateau that I now think might be a rut......I'm looking for others who may have experienced this. I gotta start loosing again. I've come to far to start gaining.....there is not way I'll go back to being 300+.
I'l love to hear from others who may be experiencing the same thing or who have overcome it.
Just hearing from some other lap-banders might help too......the only other person I know who has had it is the top loser in the Maritimes and breaking all kinds of records. I'm very happy for them but it's discouraging at the same time cause I'm not losing anymore........
Anybody???

Hi
There are a great bunch of gals on the NB board that are lapbanders- so read up on some posts and I know they will chime in and welcome you soon.
No I did not have lapband but I know with all WLS stalls/plateaus its back to basics to get ya going again- this is what the veteran gals hand out as advice all the time for when the scale has stopped moving:
1.Increase your water/fluids
2.Up your protein
3.Start a food log/journal-keep track off everything you put in your mouth .
4.Increase your exercise
5.Add to your support system - and that is what you are doing by posting!
6.Are you following the 30 minute rule of not drinking for 30 minutes
after you eat? Are you drinking during your meal ?
7.Are you eating dense protein to stay full longer?
8.Do you find yourself grazing during the day or heading back to carbs with high sugar - you know - the crappy carby stuff that is no good for us that we all love lol?
9.Have you talked with your surgeon about your plateau and feer of regain- do you need a fill ?
10. Do not give up - experiment with different ways of adding in some things- taking away others and it will work!
The great thing about the band is you dont have that "honeymoon phase" or "window of opportunity" to worry about ( for me my greatest opportunity to lose weight is the first 18 months )
So yes your weight loss does eventually slow down with all WLS- and the plateau's can seem to last forever but you have the ability to continue to lose so if you go back to the basics you will kick start your body enough- dont forget to chk out the lapband forum on OH as well for tips and suggestions.
Good luck with everthing and you can do this and you have come to the right place for lots of support
take care

Thanks for all *****sponded. I need to get back in to see Doctor B as soon as I can. I have no restriction which is my biggest problem. I'm eating well and excercising but my portions are probably too big - they must be or I'd be losing right?
Anyway - I'm not giving up. In fact, it just makes me want to push harder by excercising more and eating the right things.......I've come to far to give up.
I'll keep ya'll posted
