band woes!

I flew to Montreal this morning (on my way to check out my daughter's new digs in Pennsylvania and I still have a bubble in my band. I am blocked again. I was able to get yogurt down but nothing else. Dam! I wonder if a complete  unfill would remove the bubble??? I am hoping I was just tight due to all the rushing around (missed my original flight to Toronto!)

I'm no expert- but I would think that a COMPLETE unfill that includes that pesky air bubble and then a fill back to where you should be- in all probability should get you back to where you should be. Ever notice that bottle of water that you have with you on a flight - how it collapses a bit due to the air pressure when you ascend? And then pops back out a bit - but not all the way when we descend. The band is a closed system and is doing the same thing -unfortunately. Goood luck!

Yeah, the doctor said that the bubble expands in flight but doesn't go back down after the flight. I don't know the science but I do know the results!  I am wondering it altitude is a factor, because this time is not as bad as the overseas flight. We stayed under 20,000 feet this time. We were much higher going to the UK. I was able to eat a bit at lunch. Strange as it sounds, I had some of my DH's steak. When nothing solid goes down, steak does. I had to keep the quantity low or I know from experience, even steak would come back up. Oh joy.

This bubble stuff makes me nervous to fly :-(  I don't think I have ever been stuck.  I think I've come close but I haven't experienced anything like what some of you folks have.  I've had my 4th fill and can still eat anything.

I was stuck o ly before I hit the sweet spot then the band bubble. After that I had to be religious about the rules or I would get stuck.

This is one part of the deal that I hate.  I hope it doesn't happen very often because we fly quite a bit.   I'm lucky, my brother in law is a pilote for Air Canada and I work for a hotel chain so traveling for us is cheaper!!!      We have a trip in January to go visit my in laws in Miami and I can't wait!!!   I wanna go shopping and hopefully by that time, I will be able to fit in "regular" size stores.  We are there for 7 nights but a part of me is afraid that my band won't co-operate!   Ah well, I guess I can't stop myself and deal with the consequences!

My DH works for AC too.
My band is much more co-operative today. It is still touchy, but cereal went down well. You may not have a bubble in your band. Not everyone does.

I have flown a few times since last December and have not had any issues.  But then I try to time is so that I am not flying with a new fill.  That way if things do "snug up" a bit I am still okay.  Also whether its Toronto, Montreal or Florida, our clinic can find us someone who can help us should we experience difficulty.  I as in the clinic when a patient called from Italy and they helped him find someone to help him.

There is always a way around things you just have to be a bit more organized and think things through.

My fill was 6 weeks old when I went to Europe. The problem isn't how full you are, it is whether or not there is a bubble in the band. So said before, I wonder if altitude has anything to do with it, because it appears my band has settled down.
