Hi Everyone,Here iam on my ninth visit Moncton   stayingat the Rodd Park House Inn ........ thanks for the tip Mary C.......( 69.99$ per/night if you get the paper from health records stating that you are indeed having surery or 102.99 if you don't get that peice of paper)  ........, I'm one day shy of my one year lapband  anniversary Some of you wanted to be updated on how things went today at the George Dumont
When Dr. B did the ink test on the port he found 2 holes in the tubing and only had to change
the port  , my guess  is that because my port is so deep and not easy to locate by hand it could easily be punctured on one of those blind fills. If your port call be felt easily you probably shouldn't worry about it though.I'll definetly be darn sure if they do blind fills on me again that I will only allow it when i can feel the port too. I,ve had too many wasted trips down that highway. Men carry a lot of weight around the belly  so its much harder to find it blindly . I have never been able to locate my port can any of you feel or locate  yours? Anyway its a relief that the trouble has been found and fixed , see ya on the bench. Losers bench that is. By for now ,

So glad to hear that things are repaired.  Yes, I can feel my port very easily - but I carry most of my weight around my hips!  Congrats on the repair and good luck!

Wow Stephen - that is soooo interesting.  I am so happy that you have found out what your problem is.  I truly don't care for blind fills for a number of reasons not the least of which is your specific issue.  I carry a lot of belly fat and although I can feel my port when I am standing up, when I lay down, it disappears and then they do the fill and they have to poke and prod and I always come home sore and bruised.  And this last time they decided to use me as a guinea pig for Caroline who is learning to do fills now and I was way sore the next day with an ugly bruise.  Couple that with the fact that I have been having problems with no restriction and lots of hunger and I am starting to wonder if I am going to end up with this kind of problem.   Recently I had the stomach flu and ended up having a floroscope to see if there was any damage.  They did not do a fill at that time just the floroscope and Dr. Beau said  - you have absolutely no restriction - so you can bet I am a bit worried.

It is unfortunate that you have really not had a good experience.  However I just know this will get corrected and you will do just amazing.  I wonder under the cir****tances if you can insist on fills under floroscope until you get rid of some of the belly fat?

Keep us posted and stay in touch.  It is kind of nice to have a male voice here on the forum.

Keeping good healing thoughts for you.

i dont understand why he didnt give you a fill if no restriction, he is very conservative though but the whole point is to feel restiction and kill the appetite. As far as future fills he said he would only do one more under flouroscopy so looks like that will be my first and  last fill because iam not gonna take another chance , been through to much with this already  so getting cut open one more time is not an option , i already have one hernia from appendix operation in 2005. God i hope this works now.

My pleasure Stephen. But I'm sure the Nuns were unhappy to have missed you! So glad you needed the port changed only and not the whole friggin' band. That must have been a big relief! It seems there are a few of you having trouble with port location and such - food for thought. I look forward to hearing of your FABULOUS progress now. Take care and good l!uck

thanks mary, the only problem i had with the rodd park house inn were all the mosquitos i had to kill when i got back there after surgery they must have left the door open when cleaning and there are no thermostats to turn the heat up but there was an extra blanket.  My advise to everyone would be to stay in the main building instead of the drive ups. maybe the nuns hexed me for not staying with them. hehe

I have always been able to easily find my port. That does not mean they don't trouble finding the opening for the needle. I think my port is tilted because everyone but Dr B has trouble most of the time. My last fill went really easy, but the one before took 3 different people trying.
I'm glad you are on the mend and the band can start working for you.

thanks , is this Charlene ?  i just think there is less of a chance of puncturing the tubing if they can feel the port, the port is big , the tubing is very small and is suppose to be needle resistrant. When the day come when i can feel the port too i will be uncomfortable with blind fills.

Hi Steve, i never thought about them puncturing the tube when they miss the port........that is a bit unnerving. You could be doing wonderful and BAM you are back where you started!
BTW were you at the Dumont on Wednesday Sept 21st?
Charline
