Hey Everyone! Thanks for all the best wishes! Also thanks to Kim, Nadine and Liz  for coming to visit. I appreciate all the company and works of wisdom. I got home around supper last night. Quite honestly, I do feel like crap. I had a shower this morning and at least I feel clean. The hospital stay was interesting, to say the least. I  got the distinct impression from the skinny nurses that they disagreed with why I was there. Boy, you are on  your own in that hospital. Spoiled from our local hospitals I guess. Well, I must go and rest. Not much energy or apetite for that matter. Love to you all. I'll be back when I feel better. Chow everyone.

Glad you are home - sorry you got that feeling from the skinny nurses - should never be thay way. Walk/sip/rest and repeat and take your pain meds - especially at night to get a good sleep. A good nights sleep is the BEST healing we can get. Congrats and take good care of yourself!

Carmen, so glad you are home! Give me a call in the next couple of days when you feel you have enough energy. My hospital nurses were great, but I was 'overflow' so I was put on a different floor where they do transplants and stuff. The nurses knew what surgery I had but were very supportive. So sorry you didn't have the same experience .

Hey Suz, how was it with you, were you uncomfortable? I cannot seem to get comfy and my bed and my chesterfield don't seem comfortalbe. I haven't had a bowel movement either but I am not really eating much. Today I had about 3 oz of instand breakfast, then creamed squash soup about 1/4 cup for lunch, now I am sipping V-8 juice. Hope I am eating enough. I was up after surgery but down to where I started today. I guess I just wan't realistic on how sore I would be. My back is killing me. Well, it is done now, no use to complain. BUt honestly, the days leading up to the surgery were days when I actually questioned my decision. Recouperating I guess in the only think on my agenda right now. I will try to stay positive and suck it up like a big girl should.

Hi Carmen,

If I wanted to lay on my side, I had to put a pillow under my tummy. Now, not so much. My back never hurt - I don't think I had any gas pains at all. No BM for me for a few days either - just give it time. With my eating, the way I see it, everything should either be protein (I mix boost with pro. powder) or water/crystal lite, etc., cause it takes so long to sip everything, it's hard to get your protein in. Only today I had a V8, because I was way ahead on my water intake. The first couple days, I remember feeling so full with every sip. No it's ok - I can drink more easily.

OK so, I don't get that full feeling!  What does it feel like?  I get pain in my esophogus, I think I am drinking/eating so fast. Anyway, I would love to get that full feeling so I would know what to expect. I have to drink more protien, I know that but I am never hungry. This is all a learning experience. I have gained .5 but I am sure it is swelling cause I am sure not eating food to make me gain.  Ahhh, the saga continues....

Hi Carmen,

Glad you are home.  How many nights were you in the hospital?  The out of Prov. co-ord. said they bill it as an "outpatient" procedure....so I was worried they kicked you out right away.

Does Dr. Ellesmere use dissolvable stitches on the incisions?

I hope you feel better really soon.
