Got a call for preop !

All those tests are standard procedure. I had the following tests done pre op as request by Dr. Savoie:

  1. Cardiogram
  2. Blood work
  3. Artery blood work (they stick a needle in your main artery to retrieve blood to know my oxygen levels)
  4. Chest X-ray
  5. Pulmonary lung function test (breathing in machines)
  6. more blood work (they had forgotten some tests the first time)

It seemed like a lot, considering I am in really good health, but it was good to know that Dr. S is very cautious in making sure my body was safe for surgery.

Today is your first day of Boost right?

:)

Thanks for sharing Monica .   So far today I have had lots of blood work  & an ECG .  The gal that is trying to do the arterial blood can't seem to hit the artery . She tried for a long time in both wrists & It hurts . She said I have very dainty veins & arteries.   Imagine ... me having a dainty anything  !!   I have to go back at 2 pm to have the pulmonay functions done  & she may try the blood gases again.
Just had my first BOOST and its 145pm.  I have been at the hospital since 1130am.
I had the chocolate one , I liked it alright.
Did anyone find out if we can have black coffee or not ??

Now fiddle, don’t quote me on this, but I don’t think we as Dr. Savoie’s patient are allowed coffee. To be quite honest, I never asked so maybe you should call, but I was told water and boost only. It was hard without my caffeine fix but not impossible.

Those two week will have its up and downs, but all you need to tell yourself is that it’s only two weeks of your whole life! So in reality it’s peanuts. Now I look back on those two weeks and think “what was I complaining about?" lol

YOU CAN DO IT.

Concerning the blood gases, I had it done in Moncton and they actually paged a Doctor to come and do it, the nurses refused to do it.

It doesn’t hurt! No worries!
