Hi Cat,

CONGRATS!!!   The staff at the hospital is very nice.

I'm assuming you have the same diet as I did and it was 4 "diabetic" boosts per day and water.  I asked about the coffee and she said absolutely not.   Only the boosts and water.  I lost 17 pounds on the diet.  Maybe yours is different though (coffee, tea)

A funny thing that I forgot to mentioned is that they asked me if I shaved?   I said, actually I know a woman (Carey's story) that it happened to her and come to found out, you won't need to shave me.  The nurse left and came back saying, sorry, it was your chest.  We laughed and I said you won't have to do that either!   hahahahaha

I'll second Mon on her opinion to embrass the good and the bad.   What I didn't like was right after when I was dizzy and vomited from the anesthesia but it doesn't happen to everyone.   If it does, you'll be in very good hands and medications are readily available to help ease the pain.

I'm lucky, I still have quite a bit of vacation days left so I'm off work for 3 weeks.  I feel like I need it to rest and recover but some had a lot less time and were fine.

Hugs and kisses.

Thanks for the post Rachael ....NO COFFEE or TEA ....no wonder everyone (almost) had a headache ....withdrawels from the caffiene.   I asked the lady that called me this morning she said that she didn't know what I could have.& wanted to know if at the office they had went over it with me . I said yes they did .  That little booklet they gave us , it would all be in that .  I am out at the trailer right now , getting packed to go home & that is where the booklet is .
I am ready to accept the good with the bad . The bad doesnt last for long , right .
I have to look up the list to take with me, its on here somewhere.
Right now it still doesn't seem like  a reality.  Tomorrow is  D-day for bread ....Got to be ready for the fast the next day. Have to buy some BOOST tomorrow .

That peach colored booklet doesn't have the pre op diet in it.  It only starts from the day of the surgery.

I would call if I were you to double check in case I misunderstood or that the pre op nurse didn't know... it's 544-3560 to talk to a dietician directly.

Good luck!!

No it doesn't say Rachael ,  it does start on the day of surgery . Thanks for the phone number . I tried calling them today & no answer , just the machine . It won't kill me not to have a coofee or tea , but I really can;t see what harm it would do ...

Cat I am so happy for you!!!!!  The emotions will calm down and you will be fine.  Just know that you have made the most important decision of your life and remember that nothing can be so bad as carrying around the weight and feeling the way unhealthy feels.  I feel so much better now than ever before and although I have had some bumps along the road I would not change a thing.

You have made many positive comments and have been so supportive to me and all the others on this forum.  We can only return the favour.  We are all here for you.

Thinking positive thoughts for you.  Won't be long now and you will be over here with the rest of us.  Wooo Hooo!  Look out guys - here comes another one!

Thanks Ann ,  it just seems like yesterday that I was reading about all of you going in for your bands !!   The time does go rather quickly , but when waiting I guess I am not very patient.
I find myself worring about FOOD.....tomorrow being the last day and all .... I am wondering all the time what I will eat tomorrow .I am also worried about not having my cup of tea or coffee , it is just a wee bit of normalcy. If  I can't have it , I will NOT have it , plain & simple .This surgery is far to important to screw up . Thanks for the kind words . I need to find that list again on what to take with me on the 14th .

CONGRATS Cat!!!  I am so happy for you. I love reliving the joy of getting THE call and your post brought it all back in fine style!  Just 16 days and counting!
BTW, Dr B allows one black tea or coffee per day.
