Just spoke with their office as we're leaving for a 2 week vacation and I didn't want to take the chance of missing my call.  The lady said that they are at the beginning of November right now.

They have started doing fills and seeing the new patients at the same time and there are still a few referrals dating back from 2004 that he took on.  She confirmed my letter being received December 4th and said that she estimates that I should get a letter between the end of October to mid-November.

They send out a letter first and then call a week before the appointment to confirm.

Just thought I'd share the info.

Is this your first consult?  Are you getting the DS?  If so, did she mention by chance when they would start the surgeries?

Yes, this is my first consult.  We didn't talk about type of surgery.  But I plan on asking the Dr. when I finally get in to see him.

I wanted to update everyone who is waiting for their first consult.  Last year we thought it would go by quickly and then setback after setback got a lot discouraged I'm sure.  I know I've been.

Hopefully it goes by quickly.  I know they are doing fills and the team is pretty comfortable with the lap band from what the lady told me.  Hopefully the DS will happen before the end of next year...(seriously I hope sooner but realistically...don't think so.)

I'll keep you posted!

I am sure he will be booking DS soon. Your turn is coming and though the waiting is frustrating, you just have to believe there is a good reason for it. You are young and, when your turn comes, you will slim down like a snow bank in June.

In NB there are no out of pocket costs...you used to have to pay 2500ish for the band, but now that and the surgery is covered by medicare.
I had a friend go to ONT for self pay, and dont quote me, but i think she paid 16000.  She did get a huge tax break that year of i think approx 4000...
