Guarantee on the lapband

My friend had her band since last year.  She got it done in Montreal and paid for it.   We had a long positive talk today about her experience.  SHE ADORES IT.  She mentioned that hers was guaranteed for 25 years and that if it breaks, she'll just get another one.... Woh... Back up a little bit... Guaranteed for 25 years???

This never crossed my mind.  I just assumed that I was covered for life.   Is it different for the private sector or are we still "guaranteed" with medicare.

I was going to ask Dr. S but thought someone out here might know.

Well, should we need a new band, it would be of no cost to us I'm pretty sure on that...because we didn't have to pay for it, and it's covered by medicare.

I was lead to believe that the band was lifelong, but if you look in the official lapband books, it does state that a replacement may be required...

I just came back from the clinic and asked that question. Here in NB, if you required a replacement, that would be done at no charge.
