Where do you get Optifast?

Does optifast have to be ordered by a doctor or can you order it somewhere?

It usually ordered via the surgeons office- I have seen some say they got it on ebay! kinda scary I think myself.

One of the bariatric programs in Ontario will now let their patients sub in Boost diabetic for Optifast - because of the cost factor - you can google the nutritional info to compare the stats side by side.

With Dr Christou it was only Optifast- cant remember if it was 3 or 4 shakes a day - its all a blur!

I order mine online from Minoque Medical Inc in Montreal. BTW they don't use Optifast any more, they use Meditrim.

If you are not having surgery local and can not swap out and have to use Optifast just post on the Ontario board or remind me and I will find out where they get the goods..... cause there are tons using it - or as we all like to call it - "OPTI-CRAP" LOL

You can always contact Minogue and although they dont offer it online they might still be the supplier to the surgeons- if not they will be able to tell you who is now selling it.

So happy that you will finally be getting to have your surgery - your choice of surgery and your choice of surgeon too - self pay is brutal but you cant put a price on your health girly.

It's time...I have spoken to Dr Christou's office a couple times since last week and although it would have to be self pay, Mary said that beacause my BMI is too high for Dr Christou to do the surgery at this point that he may put me on optifast for months to loose some weight and then do the gastric bypass or he may refer me to another Dr would will do larger BMI surgery. I'm just waiting for Dr Christou's office to call and advise me of any choices I have. I am going on LOA due to some complications and anxiety and depression, work is just too much right now. I want to make the best of the time I have to focus on me!

Angela you are in my prayers and I hope that your LOA will allow you some breathing space to focus on you and your health.

Mary will certainly help you obtain the optifast - when I went up to Montreal she loaded me up I didnt have to order it - she will help you get what you need.

So one day at a time girly- I think he is the best and will certainly forward your case to one of his colleagues if there is any doubt- you are in great hands and hopefully if he does a referral you will get in pretty quickly.

Its no wonder you are dealing with the anxiety and depression in light of all this - dont forget that sometimes meds are needed to help - you have a lot on your mind currently- a lot to process.
