What about here in Nova Scotia? You should call the obesity clinic at the VG hospital and talk to Diana Lawlor. She will tell you how long the waiting list is. Or, you might want your weight loss surgeon there to call Dr. Ellsmere himself and make the referral. You never know till your try. Good luck Casey and I hope you are doing better. You have been through alot lately. Hang in there girl.

Go to the Capital Health website. You can google it. When there, go to the Obesity section. All the information you need will be right there.
I was referred last October and I am having my surgery this October 5. I am very excited because of the very small chances of setback and the fact that the weight loss clinic in Halifax is doing a 5 year study where we will be followed for the next 5 years with a nutritionish, shrink (he,he) and of course the surgeon and nurse practitioner.
If you need any more info, feel free to PM me and I will tell you anything I know.
Good Luck-Casey B

Hi Casey,
Yes, Dr. S does do the VSG. He does not do RNY. Dr. Savoie does Lapband, DS and VSG. I think in your case it's important you go see the experts! I would def listen to Dr. S and go see the Quebec team, who are one of the leading WLS experts in the world.
I am also hoping that you are seeing a liver specialist to ensure this is not due to something other than weight just to make sure since your BMI is in the lower range.
Good luck on your decision!
