to chew sloooooooowly???????

I'm six months post op and now have 5cc in my band and that last 1cc finally did it for me.  I've been able to eat what I wanted without really taking the time to chew like I should be right uptil I got the last 1cc and then she went down hill from there.

All these months I thought I was chewing enough and taking small enough bits but apparently I haven't because I've been getting stuck on everything.  Now I know its my fault and not the band because if I realllllllly concentrate and chew properly I don't get stuck but for some reason I can't seem to slow down and thats when the problem hits me.  I have a few bits and do everything right and its almost like I get ****y and start taking bigger bits and swallowing too fast and then the meal is over.  I have actually threw up the last couple of nights during supper.  If I don't throw up I spend all my time between meals burping......ugh!!!!

Does getting stuck cuz your pouch to stretch??????

I know what I am doing is wrong so why can't I make myself slow down???????

Don't be so hard on yourself! You've really got two choices ~ slow down or get an adjustment. Anytime you are throwing up - more than once - you want to take that serious. I got that advice from Lise way back when and it always "stuck" with me (pardon the pun). I would take that as gospel and if you are still throwing up and can't slow yourself down, have some taken out.

Hey Surfette,

If I were you I would go on liquids for the weekend and call Lise first thing on Monday.  Getting stuck and throwing up can injure your pouch.  She told me that if I get stuck I need to go on liquids immediately for 2 days and then puree again.  I had a spell where I got stuck.  Not a bad stuck but stuck  that is what she told me to do to let your tummy get over being stuck.  And also it is possible you might need a little unfill until you can train yourself to eat slower and chew more.

Really, please be very very careful.

I know exactly what you mean. On July 9th I had 2 cc put in and after that it took about 3 weeks for me to learn how to eat right. I could no longer eat what I wanted, where I wanted (the car was out) and I really had to chew. Like you i thought I was eating slowly etc, after the fill, did I ever find out different. The moral of the story is, you will figure it out....eventually.
