only 3 more sleeps with my friend (G-tube)

Won't be sorry to say good bye to it either. I head to St. John's tomorrow, Fly to Halifax on Sun - spending Sun night with a dear friend of mine in St. John, then heading to Moncton Monday for my 1:45pm appt with Dr. B. Hope to meet up with  a new friend in the waiting area who has contacted me. She is pre-op. Oh - but do I EVER remember all the questions I had! So hope I can help her out. I also have a Thank-You gift I want to drop off to the staff of 4A. They were SO good to me for the week I was there. It's not easy being a patient when you are also a nurse. I'm staying in Moncton Monday night - back to Halifax and fly home Tuesday. A quick trip - I'm just needing to be home right now. Hopefully without the g-tube I'll be able to start walking more and building up my stamina again. I'm hoping to be back to work by the end of the month. I don't recall why you needed the g-tube??   Glad it is coming out.

You know - that's a darn good question. At the time I just assumed it was as a precaution in case I ran into trouble. But I never did actuallly ask - I always had SO many questions for Dr. B. when he came everyday. I remember even having them written down on the back of the tissue box! But - it's top on my list of questions to ask on Monday.

OMG,Mary, I can't imagine have a bloody gtube in for so long. What a nightmare. Is your nose very chafed and sore from the tape?  I'll bet getting that thing out won't be soon enough. You'll find it  strange for the first few hours not having it ,where you had it in so long. Have you been able to eat alright?  What is the first thing  you are going to do  once you get that thing out? Sorry I can't be in Moncton but I have an appointment scheduled that I've been waiting months for. Let us know how you make out.

Hi Maggie - I was KIND of hoping I'd get to meet you - but didn't want to put you on the spot. Perhaps on another visit? It's a g-tube I have in- placed through my abdomen into my stomach. Not an N/G. OMG - the g-tube is bad enough! I'm hoping for a painless removalAs for eating - I'm not back to what I was before - seems like it has to be something I REALLY want and have a taste for at that particular time. But - for the most part - what I eat goes down well. Some days better than others. No further weight loss - I am hoping to put some back on. But as long as I am holding my own for now - I'm happy. I'm kind of like I was after my RNY - focused on the protein and liquids. I know I'm not getting the amount of protein in that I need. But I'm tryin'! Bowels are a problem - working on that - not taking my palafer right now as my HGB was 136 and it's the most constipating thing ever made in the world! Taking my calcium,B12 and good old centrum forte though. Too bad I'll miss you on Monday. I'll keep you guys posted - not sure If I'm taking my laptop with  me yet - probably will.
