Second menopause

In 1993 I had a complete hysterectomy and as a result entered surgical mwnopause at the age of 33. I was unable to tolerate hormone replacement therapy although I tried unsuccessfully for 4 or 5 years. So I suffered full blown menopause until 2000. Then it was over, all calmed dowm. I had wls in Febreuary and in about April the hot flashes came back. Only a few at first but now they are frequent and miserable. It is a hot hot August as it is without hot flashes on top of it. UUUGGGHH. From what I have read, it seems as though estrogen is stored in the fat cells and when you lose weight, it is released and causes this horror. A second menopause, that's all I need.

Me too. I think that eostrogen that was trapped in our fat is released when we lose weight. Sucks! 

I was somewhat relieved when I read this post.  I called my DH in so I could read it to him.  For the last few months I have complained about recurring hotflashes???  Thought I was pretty much through with all of that.  I said on  a number of occassions, "I guess losing weight is bring on these tropical moments AGAIN!"  I really didn't think that could be the cause - just that it was the way menopause was going to be for me.  The hot flashes have lessened in the last few weeks but it was interesting to read your post.  I just kep telling myself that I got through the first round on menopause without HRT and if I had to I could do it again LOL
