Hello, I go for my all day info session on Aug. 25th. I have some idea of what to expect but would appreciate info from anyone who has gone to the one at GD, in Moncton. Thanks

I had my all day info session in January so I don't know how good my memory is. Old age and senility, you know. We arrived at 8:30 am and the class started at 9. The nurse showed us a slide show sepicting what the surgery entailed, then we had the psycologist come and talk to us about emotions surrounding surgery. We stopped for lunch then. Afternoon Rinette talked to us about choosing the right foods and eating habits and finally a woman named Dinese from Fredericton came and told us about her RnY.  You get to ask all kinds of questions and they answer every one of them.

Then before we left for the day we had to write a test to make sure we had comprehended what we had been told through out  the day. It is a Tor F questionaire and takes about 5 to 10 minutes to complete. There is pass or fail. If you fail you may need to go back for another info session or they will just reinforce the part you did not understand. I was a real fun day and super informative and we did laugh a lot. It was an enjoyable day. I think you will like it.

It hasn't changed much.   I had my info on the 4th of August, the only thing I can mention is that the front reception desk is UBER busy.  You have to be there by 8, but by the time they call you to register, its quite a wait, 30 to 40 mins.  Then you go down the hall and wait to be called again...this time by Dr. B's staff.
You learn about whats expected from YOU during this surgery, and how long your hospital stay is based on your surgery.
We had a lap-band patient that came to see us.  She was very lively, and so full of life...she was a joy to talk to...
And there is still a test at the end of the day....LOL...
