no longer have a lap band
well my day surgery on thursday turn into a five day hospital stay but my band has been removed so now i can spend the next few months healing .Before i decide what to do next wether to have another type of weight loss surgery or go it alone .Now before anyone says anything let me tell you this, i was asked by a nurse after i got home would i recomend the band or weight loss surgery the answer is this yes and no I would never recomend one type of weight loss surgey over another , i would never discourgage any one from haveing a band and yet i would never encourage someone to have a band if someone wanted a friend i would stand behind anyone in there fight to lose weight what ever there choice is thats a very important for any one what happened to me was just plain bad luck i don`t blame the doctor or his staff and i don`t blame my self my body just did`nt like the band and the infection was the final straw the doctor said it had to come out so it did it feels kind of strange to be with out my band but now once i`m healed i will decide what to do next good luck to everyone jacqueline macdougall
Oh Jacqueline, I am so sorry for all your troubles! But, what happened to you could happen to all of us. This surgery is a risk and we go into it knowing that things could happen. That was a chance you took. I hope you find you can make a decision based on information and not because you are frightened. Do some research on the VSG. I have my appt. with my surgeon on Sept 3. I started this process last September, so really it hasn't been too, too long. This is a 5 year study where we will be monitored and checked by a team of specialists. Maybe it is for you. Who knows. The most important thing is to take some time to heal both physically and emotionally. Know that I am thinking about you. Hang in there.
