I"ve spent the last couple hours trying to find tricks to get through this 2 week period.  I've read where some people ate during that time but I thought it was a strict liquid diet?   Please  if you have any suggestions on how to survive this, I'd really appreciate it.  Thanks.

Dr. B's patients have to adhere to a strict liquid diet. A lot of us did the Medifast  diet. I did 2 weeks of slimfast so for us there was no choices to make only which flavours to choose.

Do not eat.  You need to stick to the liquids.  it's for a very good reason -  to shrink your liver.  If your liver doesn't shrink they could postpone you.  You made a commitment to the process and are very anxious for the surgery. You need to remember this to keep you strong.  Just do it !!!!!!  Time passes.  It will be over eventually.  It's not the end of the world, even though it might feel like it.

I found - at the end of my liquid diet - that adding a bit of crysal lite to the vanilla was yummy!  also, if you like coffee add a some black coffee to the chocolate for a mocha flavor.  Not sure that it is legal - but it did break the monotony.

Hi Patsy....I don't plan on eating. I do plan to follow the dr's instructions to the t.  I was just making a comment about the research I was doing to find ways to get through it.....ie...add ice cubes, freeze it and eat it like ice cream, add some flavouring etc.  I read where some drs allow the patients to have some yogurt, some tuna or even some cottage cheese.  There was just such a wide degree of diets from different doctors.  What I was really hoping to find was 14 different things to do so I had one for every day and could have something to look forward to every day!

Thanks Suzanne for your suggestion for crystal light.  I will definitely use that one day!!  Some where on the site I found someone who used a bit of cinnamon in the vanilla and changed the flavour a bit.  I go to see the nurse again this friday so I'll run these ideas pass her and hopefully, she'll ok it.  If not, then it's back to adding ice cubes or freezing the drink slightly!!!

Casey,  I feel so bad for you , I know that you are hungry & its not a good feeling . How many days have you been on it so far ?
One idea ...where its so hot ...could you freeze it popsicle holders & munch on them . Is it true that we are only allowed 4 boosts a day ??
I am not much help .We don't' have any choices. Good Luck , Try to be strong !!!

Haven't started yet, Cat.  Only start next week!  My relationship with food right now is not good so in one way, I'm looking forward to a nice cleansing.  I hardly eat at all and when I do, it's very, very little.  Nothing tastes good to me!!!  The post op diet looks very good.....all foods that I like, except peanut butter!!  Hubby is going on the diet with me, providing his dr gives him permission.  He can cheat if he gets hungry!  Anyone know a good substitute for peanut butter????
