What do you eat in a day - Lap banders

I guess I feel a little lost on what I will  be able to eat once the recovery period is over. I mean I know not to attempt bread or steak, but can I eat everything else in small amounts? I don't know, I'm so confused....

What do you eat in a day?

Typical day for me (and I'm not the best role model!)

Breakfast - 2 large cups of coffee with skim milk and sugar twin, instant flavoured oatmeal with a splash of skim milk

Lunch - large salad with Renee's Light Cesar dressing, 2 Tbsp bacon bits and sour dough croutons. I count this as 500 calories (probably less but just to be safe), white chocolate jello pudding (made with skim milk)

Supper - 1/2 box of taco bake (from El Paso) which is 240 calories, another serving of pudding or maybe berries with low-fat Cool Whip

More coffee throughout the day - maybe a Skinny Latte (140 calories) from Starbucks. My downfall is that I don't get enough protein but that's a typical day. Maybe rice chips (Blue Menu Superstore Brand) in the evening.

breakfast- protein cereal with soy milk & protein powder
snack- fruit cup
lunch- beans & potato-egg salad
supper- chicken & potato salad
I will have a snack this evening... not sure what.

I often eat oatmeal, broccoli, tuna & crackers from Costco (160 calories), Motts unsweetened applesauce, fruit salad cups, cottage cheese with splenda & cinnamon, broccoli salad, chicken, baked beans (which I hated before surgery and now love??), and grapes. My favorite is cheese strings..mmmmm!  I cook a lot with my slow cooker. I find meat difficult otherwise.
I hope this helps.

There are lots of things that I could eat until my last fill. Bread included. Now I can not touch baked goods of any kind. But you know, I don't really miss it. PB'ing is a powerful teacher!

Breakfast 1 pkg reduced sugar instant oatmeal, yougurt with soy nuts or a cheesestring

Lunch 6 Ryvita Snack Bread Crackers=120 calories! with peanut butter & a banana or chicken breast with mayo & curry yogurt for desert

Dinner brown rice & peas, veggies, chicken and for desert, you guessed it, yogurt

Snacks for me consist of fresh fruit like grapes, cherries, clementines, watermelon, berries with a protein which is usually a cheesestring

Hope this helps

Monica , didn't you get the diet from the dietician ?  It's for after the surgery when you can return to ordinary food.  There are 2 pages of  menus on it . I was given it when I went for my 2nd consult.

Hey Fiddle, yes I did receive it but honestly, some of it didn't make sense to me. You can't eat bread with the band, and it has bread in the menu. Also the beginning of the phamplet says you can't eat more than 1 cup of volume att each meal, yet the menu has more than a cup of food...plus honestly I am not looking to diet, I am looking to eating healthy and in moderation.

I don't know, it just seems like alot of food really...I would rather stick to the 1 cup per meal deal lol

Yes . I know what you mean about the differences from what we are told . I guess we have to use our common sense & eat what we can.  I think that the meal plan is a  healthy plan too.
Are you eating anything yet ?   Do you feel any different with the band ?  How are you feeling ?
