Angela how are things going for you? Have you found anymore surgeons? Are you still thinking about self-pay? I have been thinking about you and wondering how things are going. The last time I heard from you, you were panicked about finding a surgeon with a shorter waiting list.

Hi Stephanie
Thank you so much for the concern, I really apprciate it. My doctor had suggested the Mayo clinic, Cleveland clinic and Lahey clinic so I found a Canadian branch of the Cleveland Clinic in Toronto. I called them and she gave me the name of the contact in Cleveland. She is sending me the information. IShe told me the 1st step is to have my doctor write to medicare to plee my case with loots of information. I have an appt Aug 8 with my own dr and will be requesting that then, then the wait to see if Medicare will help pay. My plan is to only wait until the end of this yr and then I will opt for self pay if the red tape takes too long or I am denied. The cost fo the surgery is $25,000 US. Not sure where the money will come from but I will find it whether I cash our my RRSP's or sell my house. I am having the surgery. I feel more empowered right now instead of anxious so thats a good thing. How are things with you?
hope to hear from you again

Hi Angela,
I hope your Gp is of help and Medcarre pays for you to have it sooner. I'm sadden if you'll be stuck paying out of pocket for it. Have you tried getting your GP to write a very very STRONG letter to the NB local surgeons. One letter might get the required attention but SEVERAL LETTERS WILL GIVE YOU POSSIBLY WHAT YOU NEED NOW!!

I have written a letter to both surgeons in NB already and that did not seem to help as I havnt received a call yet. My dr sent a rfeerral but I wouldnt say it was a strong letter. I will ask him to do that though on my next appt. it wont hurt to send a similiar letter that he is sending to Medicare to the NB surgeons. Thanks for pointing that out. Somehow I just feel the medicare field is going to let me down so I am prepared to self pay but we'll see what happens
thanks for being concerned
Angela

I am glad to hear that you are taking a no nonsense approach. Keep digging and insist your Dr. to play hard ball! This is your life that you are fighting for not a face lift. You have the courage to keep fighting and I am here to help emotionally if you need it. I am behind you 100%.
Take Care Stephanie
