I caught a cold. I am only 8 days away from surgery! I'm medicating like it's nobodies business...do you guys think I have time to recover beforehand?

I think that's common. I developed a sore throat 1 week prior to surgery and I think a couple of the other girls were the same. Mine cleared before surgery Most likely yours will too. Lots of fluids, rest and lots of otc cold medicines. Ask thre pharmicist which ones you can take. Some might interfere with surgery. Better safe than sorry.

Could it be allergies - mine are horrible this year - just wondering cause some benadryl might help you keep your sinuses clear - I seem to be taking a few a week now -they zonk me out though so I need to take one at night - for some reason I dont seem to get any relief from the daily ones like Claritin or Reactine ( not sure if they are pouch worthy) but I know benadryl is ok.

Sending healing vibes your way- I am sure you will be ok for surgery day you have a week take it easy and lots of rest and fluids- my motherinlaw who most know I dont care for or should I say she doesnt care for me - to which I say after 25 long years - kiss my skinny ass!
oooppsss did I saw that outloud- sorry I digress - can ya tell I am pms'ing!

So anyway the old coot does swear by her netty pot (sp?) for colds- she was doing it long before they became the rage !

I swear by taking Zinc to boost the immune system. I know that you are supposed to stop vitamins but I would ask if one or two heavy doses Zinc right away would be OK.

can having symptoms of flu be linked to losing weight? I read that somewhere... that when you lose weight, you can get headaches, bad breath, flu like symptoms, acne... I think it was because your body is eliminating toxins.

Thanks everyone! I’m feeling a little bit better today. I’ve been medicating myself quite severely. I’ve been taking Cold FX and Tylenol Cold/Flu. Pre-admin called me today with a question and I mentioned I had a cold and she told me not to worry since I still had a week to recuperate. I’m sure I’ll be alright; this is my first cold in 5 years which is I why I panic’ed yesterday.

I’m half way through the liquid diet as of today. I guess I freaked because I just can’t do this liquid diet again. I’m almost done and I can’t really go through that again.
