update
Hello All,
I have not left this world just have had a very busy time of it helping my youngest son and his family find a house and get moved. The big move was yesterday and so I am hoping life will get back to normal here soon. It is summer though so who knows what happens next.
So I had the stomach flu - and I mean a bad case of it. 12 hours of intermitent puking (dry heaves actually) and the runs. I was terrified. We are always told as band patients not to throw up. Its hard on your band and hard on your tummy, creating the potential for slippage and other complications. I can attest to that now. I was so afraid I had done damage. I called the clinic and told them about the flu and that I was having pain up under my rib cage and that I was worried I had done some damage and so they told me to come right in. I saw Caroline and she and Lise decided I needed to see the Doctor. I first saw Dr. Beau's wife, Dr. Roy. She is very nice and was very thorough in her questions and examination. She felt it would be best if Dr. Beau saw me under floroscope. He was in the X-ray Dept that day and so he decided to have me drink some stuff and check it out. Good news was the band has not slipped or anything. The placement is good and I am fine. I was able to see the mouthful of barium go down myself - quite interesting I might add. The doctor felt that I had just irritated things and gave me a perscription for something to coat my tummy before meals and also something to reduce stomach acid production. He felt this was precautionary at this point but that it was needed until my body has a chance to recover from the effects of the excessive vomitting caused by the flu.
However after the fluroscope, the news that I knew and that I have known all along is that - I have no restriction! I had a fill on July 2 - Thursday - of .5cc and then after being sick the following Tuesday/Wednesday, I had no restiction by Thursday of the week following my fill. I have never really felt much restriction since I had the surgery with any of my fills. I have been "snug" for up to a week after a fill, I have been stuck a few times but more from not chewing properly rather than from restriction, I have avoided foods out of fear based on what I have read on this site and others regarding stuck issues with certain foods but I have never really experienced true restriction.
I see this as perhaps a testament to my resolve to lose weight that I have lost 40 pounds since surgery on Dec 2, 2008 basically with no restriction at all to speak of. Imagine what I could do if I had restriction! Although I have done well I would have liked to have lost more weight by now. Although I have done well, I was hoping to be closer to my goal weight by now. But I guess I have myself to blame too - I specifically asked them not to be too agressive with fills right out of the gate. I wanted not to have to go running back because of too much restriction. Silly me.
Dr. Beau said he would do another adjustment in about a month but I am thinking I would like to go sooner. So long as my tummy is okay. I am going to call Nathalie tomorrow and schedule my next fill. And when I get the next fill I am going to ask that they put more in than usual - maybe do it under floroscope and be a bit more agressive. I just have been stuck at this weight now for too long, I need to see movement here or I risk losing my resolve.
The bright side to my entire day though was the surprise meeting - though far too brief - with Patsy G. and Charline W. and Suzanne H. Lots of hugs and happy greetings. These ladies have been so kind to me and we have connected on a level that surpasses the computer and this website. How wonderful to see them in person. May I say ladies you look FAB U LOUS!!!! There I stood in my grubbie duds that I had worn to Moncton to help my kids pack to move and you girls were all dolled up and looking so pretty. Pasty was dressed to go on vacation and simply glowing with good health. Charline - that color is great on you - you looked so fresh and cool and ready for a summer day. And Suzanne - Crisp white top and that lovely hair - you looked even more lovely than your photo on here. There were also 2 other ladies there who have had surgery and who are doing amazingly well. I had my best friend with me and she got a chance to listen to some very positive conversation about the surgery that she is considering for herself. Thanks guys for being so welcoming and informative. She thought you were all wonderful people and was happy to meet you.
And to the gorgeous young lady having her consult - girl - do it! Just do it! You are so young and so beautiful - you will be totally successful with few if any complications and your life will be so exciting afterwards. Take this chance to get control of your life and to be all you can be.
So that is my update. Shopped for houses with my son and family , found a house, got sick, got better, helped kids move, need a fill - again, story of my life.

Nice to see you are feeling better and got some answers on restriction or lack there of.
I will be crossing my fingers for ya that the next one is right on target or the sweet spot you guys mention!
Just think though this time last summer you would not have been able to do all that you are doing for your son and his family- you have come quite a ways my dear- I understand the need for the losses to continue to keep your momentum and motivation- know exactly how ya feel about that!
One day at a time and stay focused on what you are in control of and what your ultimate goal is - health. You will get there - I know you will.
take care
