I thought summer was going to be easy...

But it's not.  I thought with all the fresh fruit and veggies and BBQ's that this would be easier than it is.  Last summer I had no problem (pre-op) but it seems like there are more temptations this year than last.

I know one thing last summer, I followed it very strictly due to the threat of being postponed.  I didn't want to gain and lose my chance at surgery or being postponed.  This year there are no threats and seem to be tempted with things like whip cream on my fresh berries, daqueries instead of water LOL, etc.  You get the picture.

2 weeks ago I was up 3.4 lbs and am concerned about this week.

Does anyone have any ideas of how best to get throught he summer?

I am going for a fill on Thursday which should definitely help with the full feeling but not necessarily the bad choices.

Any ideas are welcome !

I hear ya Patsy!  I think something that has been a problem for me right along is confusing hunger with thirst.  Sounds crazy but I really have to work at getting my fluids in.  I would much rather eat than drink.  I have been craving a big ol' drink of Coke  sooo bad lately!!!! I also find that when I eat/drink a lot of Splenda etc. I really crave sugar.  So for me I would like to find a beverage that isn't really sweet and that satisfies my thirst.  I've done Crystal Lite and Nestea and they just aren't doing it for me anymore - yuck!

I am wondering too if it is the meal time foods we struggle or is it the between meal snacks that are a problem?   Hummmm, I think for me it is the between meal snacks.

I would like to put together a collection of recipes that are tried and true by WLS members and then post it for everyone.  If anyone has ideas for meals or snacks please PM me and I will work at putting it together,

One thing that is helping me a lot lately is to cook a regular meal and then freeze one cup portions.  I know I've mentioned this before but Superstore has these great containers - 9 oz. capacity, glass dish with a silicon seal (I think) and a snap on plastic lid.  Seals stuff very well, no freezer burn or taste.  So, when it gets close to lunch time and I have the urge to snack I know I have something to look forward to.

Unlike you Patsy, I had a feeling that summer would be really hard and it is.  When it is hot outside I crave a cold glass of Pepsi with ice cubes. I can almost taste it. I long for a big ice cream or a DQ blizzard.

Not this year. No ice cream, no ice cold pepsi. No bar b q hot dogs or hamburgers and only tiny steaks. No cold potato salad or coleslaw either. All of these summer favorites are gone to me now. I miss them but I know it is only food. Fall will come and they wn't be around for another  9 months

By next summer I may  be able to eat potatoes and all of the rest of it. May be in small portions but I just might be able to do it  Now is when I am glad I don't have to rely on willpower because I'd be chowing down big time. Now I know that I can't. Dumping is great adversion therapy.

I buy sugar free freezies and popsicles and that takes away a lot of the need for something icy cold and sweet.
