My Day In Bathurst !

Hi Fiddle,

I don’t go see Dr. S again until my surgery date, July 22nd. When I saw him June 1st, I was asked if I smoke cigarettes and I told him that I do smoke about 5 cigarettes a day (usually at work).

I am a part time smoker. He wants me to quit smoking a month before surgery which is why he pushed my surgery to the end of July so I could stop.

I got my date today; July 22nd is my surgery date!

Drinking & eating at the same time is hard. I’ve been practicing but sometimes I slip (especially if it’s super hot or spicy). Like I said in the earlier post, I have this mentality right now that “I may as well enjoy it now because I won’t be able to after" type deal. Now that I have my actual date, it helps me adjust and align myself better.

So glad that you got to see Dr. Savoie for your 2nd consult Cat! I'm so excited for you, and I hope that everything goes well with your sugars. Looking forward to hearing how everything is going.

Thanks Prancing_nougat ....   Have you got a call for your surgery yet. Or did you have yours.  I know one of us was done on June 3  ?????Am I right or wrong  ?
Let me know how things are going with you. I will keep you informed of what happens when I go to see him in August.

I may as well tell what happened to me yesterday on this post.
I had a car accident , I fell asleep at the wheel  , it was before dinner . They took me in the ambulance  to the hospital & kept me there until 6pm.    The took blood , did xrays on my spleen & rib cage & lungs.   Everything was good . I totaled my car , not worth fixing  & the Dr. took my drivers liscense away until I get better. I think that I have been taking to many pills , I go to my own Dr. on Friday , so I will have a talk to her .    I have been having a lot of trouble staying awake for a few months.   I am SO sore today , I can hardly move.  Talk about bruises ....where the seat belt  was across me . The right breast is black ....a large bruise on my right hip . The left stomach area is so sore even to touch.   Of course all the little muscles , are all sore too.  What  a difference a few minutes make in a persons life !!!

OMG, Cat....that is horrible.  I hope you are feeling better soon.  High sugars make me so sleepy and that's why I can't work right now.  I couldn't stay awake!  Of course, low sugars do the same.  My dr has threatened to take my license away as well but that was because I wasn't using my CPap machine.  I'm still not using it as much (whole other story) but I also seldom drive, especially on the highway for long trips.  The minute the car hits the road I fall asleep.  Great company for hubbie!!!  He doesn't even like me driving around town because I've come home needing help to get into the house because I'm so weak and dizzy.  I take 50 units of Levemir morning and night and 40 units Novorapid, morning, noon and night.  And I take that Metformin as well.  know I can bring my sugars down by my appt with some diligence!  It's so hard to coordinate the eating, the sugar readings, calculating what I need to inject and remembering to do so.  I will often remember halfway through the day that I haven't taken my insulin.  My memory has been affected so much as well!!

I've fallen asleep at the wheel and woke up just as it was going into the ditch.  I was able to swing it back out thankfully.  I would never want to go through that again.  I can't imagine what you went through!  Just almost doing it was scary enough for me.

Was your husband with you???  And if so, how is he?  And of all the drives in NB, that drive to that part of the province has to be the absolute worse.  I'm glad we won't have to travel in the winter, maybe a few times for fills.  I wish I could go to Moncton for those instead!!

Take care and heal well!!!!

Hi Betty , I am still sore  & some of the brusies are starting to turn color. I still can't sleep on my left side , the muscles on the that side are highly sore .
I went to the Dr. this morning , she didn't seem to concerned about my liscense. I am!
She said I can gradually go off  the clonasapam . I take 3 at night to make me sleep , & they don't work.  So , she wants me to do a followup on  with Medigas & the sleep apnea.machime . She said that I have to use it EVERY  night for it to work .
My sugars are coming down , with this dieting . They were 7.6 this morning . I am depressed .
I was all alone when I had the accident , which was a good thing .
Looks like rain this  afternoon .   Thanks Betty

My experience with the Cpap machine is like yours.   It didn't make a difference and I got the same reaction from both my GP's (new and old) that I have to use it to make it work.   I've used it for weeks and no difference.  So they pumped it up to 21 which nearly blew my face off.  They lowered it back to 17, I used it faithfully.  Nothing.  I was so looking forward to all those rumours that you'll see a big difference.  I could fall asleep at the drop of a needle.  3 clonanzepam would knock me off the face of the earth.  I can't believe you still can't sleep.  I use Remeron to help me sleep and even after several years of using it, it continues to work.  I wonder if it's more habit than anything.  It also helps with depression.

Those sugars are great.  Do you feel weak when you go that low?  Yesterday I was out by myself which hubbie generally disapproves of and I was so wobbly that I had to come home.  He helped me in the house and said never again....which he's said before!...My sugar was 7.9.  My body is so used to being high that anything below 10 and I start to feel it.  Won't it be so nice when this is all said and done.  I have this nagging little voice that tells me this surgery won't work either.  I want to reach in and stomp on it over and over.  This has to work!   I have to make it work because nothing else is.

Glad to see the rain coming...planted some lawn seed and it needs it badly.  Hope you have a good weekend and feel better soon!!!
