2nd fill date
Wow, when I think of all the years I spent waiting for surgery, or even to be on his list, it is amazing to be posting my second fill date. Anyway....Nathalie just called to say that she has the June surgery schedule and I have a fill appointment on June 3rd at 1:15. That is so awesome. I don't have any restriction now and I can eat and eat etc..... Keeping my weight down is a struggle at the moment.
Anyone else have an appointment that day?? Anyone want to meet for coffee afterwards?

Congrats on your 2nd fill. Didn't you have the first fill a little while ago or am I wrong. Time flies so fast now adays. How many fills do you banders get or need? Is there a time when it is filled all it can be. I know so little about lapbands. What is the time peroid for fills until you are all filled up?

I had my first fill on April 22nd. Fills should be every 6 weeks until lasting restriction is obtained. This takes anywhere from 1 to 6 fills- (one would be very unusal). Then you have another fill around every few months because the band will get loose when you lose the fat around the stomach. Once you stop losing, you need the band topped up about once a year or if you lose restriction. Over time the band can lose a bit of the fill. The band doesn't need to leak to loose some of the fill. After the last fill I had good restriction for 2 weeks and some restriction for a week. Right now I can eat anything and in larger quantity than is healthy, if I choose.
Will there ever come an end point when you no longer get fills or need fills ? Sounds so complicated. Your restriction lasted 2 weeks. Is that normal? What are you supposed to do for the other 4 weeks till your next scheduled fill? Are you able to get fills every 6 weeks? Sorry about all of the questions. Don't feel that you have to answer them. I really don't know much about bands.

The filling of the band has to go slow or the stomach can overreact to the band and swell up so the band has to be removed. It usually takes about 6 fills to get lasting restriction. It was more like 3 weeks. Two weeks of good restriction and 1 week of moderate restriction. I don't know if 2 or 3 weeks is normal or not, I only have my own experience to go by. My first fill was late by about 2 weeks, but my second appointment is right on schedule. The inconvenience of the fills is the price for having a simpler procedure with less complications and unaltered anatomy.
