Yesterday was both Mother's Day and my 49th birthday. I spent it with the two most important men in my life, my sons.  They took me for a drive in the country (over 3 hours LOL)  then we went for supper at Ponderosa in Moncton. This was the first time I had eaten in a restaurant since surgery.  I dump or puke pretty easily so I was always afraid to eat out  Anyway I had the chopped steak and garden salad and did fine. It was a lovely day. I was in bed by 8:30.

I know I complain a lot about my ability (or lack thereof) to eat and it is true. I am still having problems with food but there are good things too. Everytime I get into the shower and no longer have to use a back brush to wash my feet, I am grateful. Everytime I go to a public bathroom and don't have to carry wipers and worry about being able to reach, I am thankful. When I sit on the couch and can easily pull my knees up to my chest,  I am happy.

Hopefully I will never forget how it feels to be 293 pounds at 5'2" tall. If I never forget, I may never go back to it. Even at 250 pounds I couldn't do all that I can do now.

Hopefully this exaustion will pass. Right now I need to rest by noon and often need a nap in the afternoon and am in be asleep by 9:30 or 10:00 and except for the first few hours in the morning, I am chronically tired.

Happy Birthday to you!!! I was my late brother's birthday too. He was born on Mother's Day- were you? He was born at home and weighed 12 lbs. 13 ozs. and the legend in our family is that after he was born my Dad and the doctor sat in the dining room and killed a 40 ouncer. I imagine that the size of the bottle has grown with the retelling. I have always maintained that they should have given the 40 ouncer to my mother, preferably before she had to birth that big baby!! LOL

Thank you for your birthday wishes. Fortunately, I was not born on Mother's Day. I was born on a Tuesday. I was the last of 11 children all born at home. My father fathered 22  children. 11 by his first wife who died of T.B. at 42 years old then he remarried and had 11 more children. I am the last of the lot. As I say they saved the best for last. LOL  My siblings would beg to differ but since they are not here, I'll say it without fear of repercussion. LOL.

I am so glad that your restaurant outing was such a huge success - this will give you confidence Maggie and you just build from there- my first time out was such a flop it took months to get back the courage to try it again- so congrats!

Keep an eye on your iron and b12 - re: the fatigue - I remember the overwhelming fatigue but its not always the case- I was very anemic - are you able to calculate your protein intake daily cause thats our energy level there too!

Happy birthday Maggie !  I didn't realize we are about the same age.  I'll be 49 in October.  Congrats on the eating.  It feels so good when you successfully eat a meal.  I have had my problems as you know, but knock on wood the last week has improved immensely.  Hopefully you will be feeling perkier as you lose more weight.  being exhausted is such a horrible feeling but you'll get better.
Congrats on the excellent weight loss too.

You rock sister....
