Peeked on over at lapbandtalk.com today...

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f76/new-nouveau-dr-marc-savoie-bathurst-n-b-80016/index3.html

One individual (hi! if you visit here too!!) stated that she's on meds, and has a glucometer, and was scheduled for the 3rd.  I mention this b/c I was curious as to what "high risk" means as I take Gluconorm, and have mild HBP.  I don't really consider myself high risk, but I'm not a dr.

Anyway, just thought you might want to keep an eye over there for any info we don't get here.

Hello,

Yeah I’m not sure how anything works anymore and I’m starting to believe that there no real pattern. He just reviews the files from October and decides who will go first based on his own criteria’s. It’s hard to believe he is doing the easy cases first when a lady was called who is in her fifties with blood pressure medication when I have great blood pressure (never had problems); I’m in my mid twenties and have hardly any co-morbidities except for mild asthma (I don’t even take my inhaler and haven’t in over two years) and acid reflux (which is quite severe but 100% controlled by my medication).

Who knows really? All I know is that I am standing besides the telephone waiting on my call. I’m relieved he has my file and now we’re at the final stage of the waiting game which is a great relief.

I would prefer June or July anyway because I have a few important projects pending plus I just moved into a new house and I’m disorganized.

Ciao

Doing "easy" cases first doesn't make any sense to me either, but like you said - who the h3ll would know.  And like you, I'm not that worried about it.  I'll get a call when I get a call.  Maybe we'll be roommates!

I don't think there is a specific criteria for HIGH RISK. While certain factors/ illnesses etc are accepted as high risk in the medical community. For the most part, the doctor decides for himself. Factors like smoking, blood pressure, all diseases that affect healing, age, weight, surgical history, medical history, and the list goes on are all considered. The individual you mentioned may weigh less than you or be younger. Her diabetes may be well controlled by diet. You really can't judge much by that little bit of information.
Nurses - correct me if I made any errors.

Have faith, your turn will come.

You guys are gonna drive yourselves bonkers  trying to figure this guy out.  There is no way to know for sure what he's gonna do until he does it.  he's probably only doing easy ones first as a practice !!!!  you know...kinda getting into the swing of things.  it's gonna happen for everyone eventually.  Ask someone like Charline or Suzanne or Ann who waited forever.  They are done and its all over with.  And then when its all over you'll say "well that was fun, now what?"  I was very anxious too and once it's over, it's over.  it's hard to explain until you go through it, but the anticipation is 95% of the whole process.
Anyway, your turn will come soon enough I promise. and If it doesn't, I'd be happy to do it for you !!!!!!!!!  LOL

Thanks Patsy , I know that you are right .   To figure out how he is setting this thing up is really beyond us .  Everyone will get their turn eventually.  All I can say to all my forerunners , keep that bench  hot for me .

Every time you say "as practice" I get a little knot in my stomach.  I think the dr. himself has already done lapband surgeries.  It would more likely be the nurses/staff who are new.
