My operation scheduled forJune 3 with DR SAVOIE!!!
I have been wondering - if the Dr has been giving the secretary October files, is everyone in October going to be called (and given dates according to risk), or has he just given her the ones who are "low-risk" and are set to be called - keeping some of the higher risk October folks until later...?
Maybe I'm looking for a way to stay positive, since she has told me she has my file. I have mild high blood pressure (not on meds), but other than that, nothing really.
Like you Anita, I am pretty anxious and excited. At this point, since he seems to be taking “easy" cases first, I don’t see how he would take emergency situations first? Isn’t an emergency situation a “complicated" case? Wouldn’t it mean they have high blood pressure issues or heart problems?
I know that mobility issues are always priority. A girl I know hardly waited at all to see Dr. B because she needs to have her hip replaced asap and they are unable to do the procedure unless she loses weight so when her file was forwarded to Dr. B she was seen right away.
I can’t wait to be called. I feel like calling them everyday for any new updates but I know I have to be patient since these poor folks just started and we are all bombarding them with calls.
I’m excited to say the least! Now if I can just receive my call I will be so happy!
So according to the nice lady who answered the telephone, Dr. S only does consults on Mondays and it could be about two weeks before I get my call for the consult, which is fine, but she told me basically that they had just begun the month of October and that he was going on vacation in two weeks, so she said this could delay my consult to possibly early june. Good news for me nontheless
I think that as far as “seniority" things will go by month, not by initial consult date. I don’t really know anymore because it doesn’t make sense.
Itsabouttime had her consult a week after me and she got her call before me. I think Dr. S took all his lap band patients from October, went through them found a group of easy cases, regardless of consult date, and once those are done he will go by consult date from there…who knows?
I’m confused.
When I called today I asked where I was on the list and when I can expect a 2nd appointment. She found my file in the list and said the following:
He sees patients on Mondays and they already have the next two Mondays booked. Then he goes on vacation (didn’t say how long) and then should be my turn. Basically what I gathered was that if he didn’t have vacation, I would have been part of the May 25th group.
This is what I could understand because she was sort of just trying to calculate but she was thinking out loud so please take the above with a grain a salt.
Either way it’s news, and it’s much better than being in the absolute dark, or not having your voicemail returned. Hopefully I’ll be done before the end of Summer!!!
My understanding is that Dr S is doing the easiest patients from October, then he will do the remainder of the Oct patients. I would imagine he will access his inexperienced team to see if they have gained sufficient experience and either do the remainder of the October people or do the easier November patients. He is also doing bands first, before tackling either DS. His team needs to gain experience from the "normal " routine, free (as possible) of complications, before learning to deal with complex cases. I know that everyone is anxious to have their surgery, but his priority is everyone's safety. This means having the best possible support team for before, during, & after surgery by training them properly............I will get off the soap box now! LOL
