Anita,
Call the clinic - it's open as of today and everyone is super friendly... I would call but I'm still in absolute shock

Thanks,

Alright - I called earlier.  This is the scoop.

(VERY FRIENDLY AT THE CLINIC, BTW, but let me tell you, a little honey goes a long way, these poor people are getting bombarded with calls - I feel for them)

Dr. S has given booking my file (good thing I called b/c they had a different phone number for me- an old one).  They are now booking October's patients.  She couldn't tell me how the Dr. was selecting patients with respect to order other than to say that they were calling October folks now.  I'm making the (not so giant) leap here that if you had your consult in October you can expect a call soon.  Then the November people, etc.  She said there are always "emergency" cases, but seriously?  What is an emergency lapband?

The good doctor has ALL of the files, and he gives specific files to the "upfront" people when it's time to book, etc.  This is what they mean, I assume, when they say that they don't "have" a particular person's file.  The doctor has it, and hasn't yet given it to them.

I didn't get to ask about vacation, and how this will affect surgery dates.

Anita.

I think they given first consideration to those with high co-morbidities...i.e. high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.  I think those are the ones considered emergencies, vs those who just want to lose weight after years of trying.  Some of these latter folks don't have the ailments that others have.

I could be wrong, but that is my take on prioritizing.

Well, I don't know, really.  Some people on the board are convinced that he's seeing higher priority people FIRST, others think last.  And then again, he's calling October people first - so if you are a more "at-risk" person and had your consult in December, do you "trump" all October people who are less at-risk?

He'll decide things either way.  He's the expert.  Until then....wait.

I can't answer on his behalf, but I would say yes the at risk people would bump the October people.  Doctors generally assess risk first and let that be their guide.  Higher risk would come before how long you've been waiting.

Wow!!! I can’t believe it!

I called the clinic just now because Anita made me paranoid about the phone number.

In January, I changed phone numbers because I was never using my home phone so I just cancelled it. I called Dr. Savoie’s secretary to let her know my new number because surgeries were to begin in January. She told me no problem, and said she would changed it.

Well I just called and it wasn’t changed!!!!!!!!

SURPRISE.

The good news is that she has my file and like she told Anita, they are calling October patients!! Exciting!!!

Yay, Monica - now I don't have to order a heroin drip to calm you down from your experience last week! :)
