From Figler (below)
My last post I swear but I got an email this morning surgeries are going to begin in June for all you lucky ladies and gents who have had your consult already  the surgical access manager at the Bathurst hosiptal is Sharon Dimitroff; her number is 506-544-2046. Good luck everyone I hope to get my consult before teh summer and surgery before Christmas to start 2010 off on teh right foot. I will be rooting for you all.

Figler, I think I love you.

:D

I just called Sharon.  What she told me is that surgeries *will* begin in June.  The one open question at this point is how many visits to Dr. S before your particular surgery.  He will see 8 on his first clinic day.

About the number of visits: she does know that we'll get called at least once to meet with the dietician, and start the 2 week fast.  But she isn't sure if there will be another meeting after that (I would guess no...?)

She did say something that sort of confused me - and I didn't have time to clarify as I am busy at work trying to figure out how to band myself with elastics and a stapler - names will soon be sent to the out patient clinic, but won't go to the OR booking until after the second visit.  So, is this the second visit include the initial consult, or are there really 2 more visits (after the initial consult)?

Also, in terms of who has already had the consult - she was not sure what criteria Dr. S will use in order of booking.  So for example, Monica had her consult before me but that doesn't necessarily mean that she will have her surgery before me (sorry, Monica...heh heh).  However, he wouldn't have someone who hasn't yet had a consult done before someone who already has had a consult.

Anyway, surgeries will be on Wednesdays.

She said that things are really starting to move now.  They had originally figured on April, but after looking at things more carefully they realized that it would be a little longer.  She took my name and # and said she was passing along to Dr. S who has called for info.

YAY!

Well this is exciting! Finally we found someone who had information!! A special thanks to the RN who found some information.

So June it is then! I wonder if they will begin calling in mid-may since there is a two week diet required before the surgery, etc.

Now I’m excited!! I don’t mind if people have their surgery before me, I mean if someone has a condition that affects them greater than mine then I’m sure this is how he will base his decisions.

I know regardless I won’t be too long down the road, he sent some paper work to my family doctor to confirm my surgery so I know I’m in the system and that’s all that counts for me!

Well this is exciting! I’m hoping at least by end of summer I’ll be done and on my journey! YAY YAY!

Anita, did Sharon mention whether he will be opening his clinic in mid-May? You mentionned he would be seeing 8 on his first clinic day - for consults?

I'm just hoping they will begin calling in mid day for the dietician apt and then the 2 weeks fast which would bring you in June!!

I'm ****ting myself, I'm so excited! My hopes better no be dashed! !

Hi, Monica -

She really wasn't all that sure - but then again, she may have said something I missed ... she said A LOT, and some of it went by me, I'm sure.  Ask her whatever you will, b/c she was super nice, and VERY helpful.  When you call her, you'll probably be more attentive than I was.

It would be nice if they would start calling for mid-May so that in 2 weeks surgery could happen.

Don't **** yourself .... I don't think your hopes will be dashed!!
