Dr. Savoie - NO it's not the call.
So, I’ve been cruising around on the other lapband board last night (lapbandtalk), and a member there (who is also waiting on Dr. S and from Bathurst) made a post on how according to his/her medical sources, Dr S will only begin surgeries in September. He/She even stated that they couldn’t understand why his secretary wasn’t telling the truth when we call to ask.
Well I have to admit. This is getting very frustrating. Not to call this person a liar, but why would his secretary lie? What purpose would it give except cause extra work for her? If she is lying about the end of April, then what’s going to happen at the end of April when they don’t call? We’re just all going to call her back! It’s not exactly pro-active. Anyway if this member reads this, please state your source.
One thing I do know is that there has to be a tentative start date. When a project launches, no one randomly decides one day “Today is the day we open the clinic" there has to be a tentative date for him to begin and I am just getting really sick of all the rumours and conflicting information.
In my mind I figured if they begun calling towards the end of April it most likely means the clinic is set to open for May 1st, but really
I just don’t know anymore.
EDIT:
I called Dr. S’s secretary for some information. I hadn’t called in awhile so I decided I would bite the bullet. I asked her if there were any updates on his clinic. She told me there weren’t.
I asked her well isn’t there a tentative start date? She told me there have been many tentative starts dates, including one right now but that she no longer bothers telling anyone anymore because they always change it on her (which I’m sure causes extra work to her in the long run).
The last date she gave to Fiddle was end of April and we’re quickly getting there and no one has been called yet, which means everyone will be calling her again on May 1st.
She said all of his staff was now fully trained and everything was pretty much ready to go. I told her I had heard September through the grapevine and she said that was not what she heard at all and that it will be sooner than that.
Poor woman, I can certainly understand how she would not want to give out dates anymore. It simply discourages us and causes more calls for her. I bet she is looking forward to him beginning as much as we are.
Ah well, same old news. I’m hoping the tentative date is May 1st or something.
Here’s to hoping!
I read the boards faithfully but don't really have much to add since I'm just waiting.
I keep thinking of my doctor who took from September to December to send in the referral and I could still just kick her.
Oh well...c'est la vie!
I just can't wait to be able to play with my kids outside...take them to the park (actually be able to walk the 10 minutes it is from here), or go bike riding, or play with them in the sand on the beach...
Those things are what make me most anxious. Oh, and not having to worry about getting into a car other than my own and thinking the belt might not fit. Let's not even talk about airplanes...and the in-laws want us to fly there for a visit in the fall.....how crazy am I about that whole deal.
They fly in tomorrow and leave on Tuesday...so I have to be on my best behaviour....she'll probably end up making me cry like last time and not even realize how hurtful she is...*sigh*
Ah well...at least it's not a month-long visit.
Take care and thanks again for the update.
Try not to get discourgaed it took me 3 years 3 months just to get in to the endocrinologust. I actually thought it would never happen , now my name is in que to see Dr S. You have gotten this hurdle over with , soon you will have the procedure and soon you will be running along side your kids. I know how you feel I have three myself , August 2010 I will be turning 40 and married for 20 years I want my husband to give me a piggy back .
I now get on an airplane and ask right away for an extension, I figure I am not going to be embarassed anymore!!
Ingore your extended family you are great no matter what your size and trust me when you get the surgery and loose the wait she will probable find sometime else to comment on.
Keep up your hope .
You may not like hearing this but the endocrinologist is no longer a part of the approval process. I waited 4 years for the endocrinologist- never did see her. When the process changed in Feb 2008. I was told I had another year to wait . A year later I had the surgery instead of just applying to Medicare to approve it..
Thanks for the update....I wanted to call this week but I guess I've gotten my answer.
I just can't stand this waiting game anymore!! It very discouraging that your told I would have my surgery done in December or the latest would be January and almost 5 months later still no news....that is very disapointed!!
Thanks for the update again....if I do descide to call next week I will post my answer to let you guys know!!
Life goes on!
I am sure you all will hear something soon.
