Got weighed yesterday and I now stand (sit or whatever) at 223 punds. I am feeling better and am eating better. I can now eat bread once in awhile and am able to eat steak (a little) . So I am doing much better. My weight is down from 251 at surgery day. So it's almost 30 pounds. That's good because for the first 6 weeks I lost almost nothing because I was unable to eat much. My first goal is only 24 punds away. Onederland

Maggie

Whoooooo HOOOOOOOO !

Thats awesome - its been a tough road so far and you know I know the road only too well!

Stay away from bread - it doesnt offer us anything of nutritional value and it just takes up space -

Now at 10 months I have finally found a - well I call it bird seed type flat bread that I will put peanut butter on - the cracker type bird seed bread gives me fibre and crunch so it is satisfying and Pb is some protein- its the first time I have had peanut butter just thought it would be hard to get down  but it is oh so yummy!

Keep up the great work and keep trying new foods - what ails us one day will work another and as you know now vice versa!

We went to a greek restaurant Saturday night and I was terrified cause I have not been to a greek restaurant since pre-op and wasnt sure what I would be able to tolerate- it wasnt my choice but the groups and they dont know I have had surgery so I thought worse comes to worse I will just pick.

I had a few tastes of some a really low fat hummus before supper with a crunchy whole wheat pita chip that were very low carb and for supper I ordered a salad that had spinach- strawberries- oranges - nuts and feta cheese - and I ordered grilled shrimp on top of it - an orange/raspberry vinagrette on the side- it was so yummy and I miss salads so much - I thought I would only eat the shrimp and nuts and cheese and maybe strawberries but I could eat the spinach - I ate my shrimp first but there were only 4 small ones so I just took it slow and was able to plug away - as usual lots was left behind but I was more excited than the bday girl!

Congrats on your weight loss - Onderland is within reach!

hugs

Congrats on eating out in a restaurant  Deb!!!   That  takes courage because you never quite know what will agree with you and what won't.  I don't know about you but if it won't stay down, it won't stay down. With me if it's gonna come back up, it does right now. I barely make it to the bathroom here at home. Would hate to see what would happen in a restaurant.

I can only eat a slice of bread once in a long while. I tried again today and it came right back up. Same yesterday. I ate a slice last week. Yesterday was a bad day. I tried to eat a 4 ounce streak and it came back up too.  Yeasterday was a soup day.  I have these ever so often.

Funny thing is I can eat a boiled egg if it's in a salad but to try to eat one any other way is out of the question.  Right back up.Stillcan't eat pork chops or chicken. I do really well with hamburger meat though. Strange thing, this pouch. Mind of it's own.

First of all Congrats Maggie on your weight loss. You go girl. I stopped trying bread and alot of meats for they don't work for me. I did get to eat a perogie yesterday and it did work but I'm sure if I tried it another day it may not work....go figure eh. Well good luck with your health and take care. :)
