Weird news from my stomach

So I have been trying to cut down on the major starchy foods (rice, pasta, potatoes, and bread) for the last 3 months, which has been going well.  I decided to have a sweet onion chicken terryaki sub from subway last night for supper (before Icould eat a foot-long and another 6inch besides) but I only could eat a 6 inch which since I haven't had one for at least 6 months, was mmmmmmmmmm!  the weird thing was (driving in, my stomach was not on the stearing wheel at all) driving home my stomach was toching the dodge symbol in the middle of the wheel and hard as a rock!!!! WTH(e double hocky sticks).  Since I hadn't had brad in 3 months, I was wondering if this is the cause.   Which makes me wonder what happens AFTER wls!

P.S. Sorry I missed the meeting, but we had relatives dro in for a visit and I couldn't get away.

Which wls are you having? I can only speak for rny but most rnyers cannot eat bread or pasta again. I cannot touch bread or any bread products (turkey stuffing, yourshire pudding, ect) it's a very long list. I am 7 weeks out and still cannot eat meat either. I am told that in time I will be able to eat some meat. Some long term rnyers tell me they are 7 years out and still cannot eat steak, white meat chicken or pork. I guess we will wait and see.

I stopped eating starchy foods back in June but it was my choice not to eat them. Once in a very long while I would have a sub or a sandwich or french toast. No more, no choice in the matter now. Bread goes down to the pouch and bread comes right back up.

If you are having a band, some of the bandsters can better answer your question. I don't think they eat bread either but I may be wrong.

It sounds to me like you were reacting to the white flour or the glutten in the flour. I didn't know I was sensitive to mil****il I went without for 10 days, then had a glass of milk. Look out for symptoms of lactose intolerance.  I do tolerate small amounts of dairy, but I feel better if I avoid it.. You may be the same with wheat.

If you are gluten intolerant , it's called celiac disease. It means you will be intolerant to anything with gluten. That would include anything that has gluten. The list is incredibly long. You can google it to see the list.

You may not be gluten intolerant, you may have just had a reaction to bread having been off it for so long. Hopefully that is all it is.

If you are intolerant, there are many cookbooks out there devoted to people with celiac disease. The recepies are all gluten free. You can even find gluten free flour.

HI,
I findthat now if I eat bread...which I rarely do...my stomach poppes right out.  I fill right up with gas.   I even had celiac tests as my mom is celiac...so I wanted to make sure.  I think it is a fairly normal reaction for after a DS.

I know that doesn't explain now...but I do think that if you remove bread from you diet..when you have it once in a while...you really do see how it swells you up.  But get the celiac test to be on the safe side.
