Waiting for the honeymoon

People who have RnY surgery say there is a 6 month or so honeymoon period where you never feel hungry. I am 7 weeks out and have never had this. Am I missing the honeymoon? I want my honeymoon.. I feel hungry frequently. I question if it is head hunger but when I get hungry I am able to eat so I am not still full and having head hunger. Leave it to me to miss out on the honeymoon. Oh my.

Poor Maggie.... you have really had a rough go of it. I feel guilty, I am 5 weeks out and have not been hungry. I am not loosing any weight either. I am so full on 1 cup of food. If I eat more, I am overfull. My problem is picking at  at bad stuff in the evening. I am eating way less than i did when I was losing in November to February, but the scales are sooooo stuck or worse, occasionally creeping up. I shouldn't complain because just maintaining is no less than a miracle for me!
I do wish I had a magic wand to help you. Are you able to eat enough? Are you supplementing what you do get with an Ensure type product? Too little can cause weight gain too.

I am so glad to hear that you are doing well Charline. Evenings are the worse for me too. Always have been. I think once you get your fill later this month you will see a big difference in what yu will lose. Ann was saying she was having a hard time too without a fill. I can't wait until yu start posting some sv's and nsv's. It will come, of that I have no doubt.

I don't know what the scales say but my clothes are all getting way too big. My bra size was 54 DDD the last time I bught one ( a cuple of years ago) and this A.M. I measured mysel fand I think I can wear a 42 D or DD so I guess I am losing something besides my mind.

I can eat pretty well now. I still can't eat meat no matter how soft it is cooked. Of course bread and pasta are out as well as too much sweets. I can eat one cookie but no more. If I eat more that one, I feeel so sick andgross. Not worth it. I still miss my bread, meat and sweets though. Just because you can't doesn't mean you don't want to.

I could probably give you several bras in good shape if I lived closer. I am also losing more than my mind.  I seem to be losing inches because clothing continues to stretch! I have a bag of clothing to give away and a bag I intend to to take in (this is code for "I will give them away next year!!" LOL)

I found a councilor here in Freddy ( I was paying my association dues when I overheard her say that she just completed a course on eating disorders & I almost jumped on her when she said that she treats over eating). I am so going to call that women.....provided i can find her card!!

As far as meat goes, have you tried putting it through a meat grinder, not a blender?  I found that it was much easier (and tastier) to eat meat ground instead of pureed. Grind it after it is cooked.

a tip on meat....although lamb seems to look like other meats....I could eat easily twice as much lamb as any other meat.  Especially if it was pressure cooked.

Pork/Chicken were very trickly.  Pork is still just to dense or something.  I fill up so fast.  With lamb I get much more in.

This was really important to me back inthe early days when I sturggled to eat enough.

Give lamb a try.

Unfortunately, I never did like the taste of lamb. I never thought of the meat grinder. I have one stuffed away somewhere either in the cupboards or out in the shed. I have not  used it in god know how many years. I tend to be a pack rat so I know that I still have it. I don't know if it is the consistancy of the meat or the density of it. It goes down and comes right back up. I am able to eat a small bit of slivered deli turkey mixed with a garden salad. Not beef or ham just turkey. Weird or what. If I try to eat it alone it won't stay down either. I will be so glad when i can eat meat. There lies the best source of protein and iron.

I got a no name brand type "Magic Bullet" and to be honest I would never have survived that first month without it.  It was great.  I turned everything into soup.  But it was tasty for the most part because every day was a new meat and a new broth...so tomoto based, milk based, bullion based...it all worked.

And I kept the veggies very low in my soup...with no potatooes or starches at all.  Then I was able to get quite a bit of good protein in...and the veggies I could get the vitamins from my vitamins.

How many vitamins are you taking?  Especially as you have struggling you maybe need more.  I use vite4life and in that mixture a RNY would take 8 daily to get their necessary amount in.

But other people take them in other multi vits or in seperate vits.

Just make sure you are getting the right amounts in what ever brand you choose.

Good Luck, keep us posted...we are there with you and for you :)
