Hey everyone! Just a quick one from me today:

Does anyone know where I can find information on which surgeries are covered by the NB Medicare? I'm trying to narrow down my options, but it's hard when you don't know what's available to you!

Thanks!
xoxo

If you qualify, the surgeries are Dr. B. in Moncton offers Lap Band and RnY gastric bypass and I think he is going to be offering another one in the future. Dr. S in Bathurst offers the DS and the Lap Band. These are all covered by medicare if you meet the qualifications for surgery. That means you must have a co-morbidity that is life shortening. Just being morbidly obese is not enough alone.
December  2007 / 293 pounds (higest weight)
Day of surgery  Feb 12 /09 / 251 pounds
Current  weight /  206  pounds
First  Goal 199  (onederland)
Second  Goal / 180  (I'd be happy here if I never lost another pound)
Final  Goal / 140  (final goal, more of a wish)

I believe you are limited to what is available in NB. I could be wrong......it has happened ....once........  but does getting married count.?..LOL

Dr B is humored to that been trained to do the VSG.

Re what Maggie said about the qualification- she is not exactly right. You must have a BMI of 40 OR a BMI of 35 and co-morbidities like diabetes, high blood pressure etc. linked to obesity.

lol Yeah, there's no chance of this chick getting married any time soon. Got to much left to do before I get tied down!

I was def aware of the of the qualifications and I'm 98% sure I meet and exceed them. Not only do I have the high BMI, high blood pressure and family history, but my Dad died of a heart attack at 60. I'm more than certain my doctor will be on my side.

It is easy enough to check your BMI- there are lots of calculators online.
