Bandsters in Flight...Did you know?

When I was at the Georges Dumont the other day, I dropped in to see Lise and told her I was going to Florida.  she asked me if we are flying and I said yes.  she said, ok,  when you land if you find that your band gets tight, go back on liquids for at least 24 hours or a bit more.  She said they make every effort to remove air bubbles from the band, but if there is one in there, the altitude can affect the tightness of the band.  instead of risking getting stuck, liquids is the best bet for a bit.  But this doesn't happen to everyone but they wanted to give me a heads up just in case.  I hadn't heard this before in any of the literature or discussions.  Just thought I'd pass it along for anyone else that might fly and get this feeling.

woh!   that's actually really nice to know and thank you for that Patsy.  Being in the travel industry, we are planning a few quick trips around my surgery.  I was mostly concerned about our destination considering the hospital's reputation with the surgery.  In other words, we're trying to stay in Canada but are looking forward to go to California in October.

I never even thought of the flight and the pressure on the band.  Much to be considered and maybe we will lay low for the next year.

Ah man, that being said, I can't wait to have my call so that we can plan better...

I was aware of this but luckily did not experience any restriction and was in the air 3 times going down and 2 times coming back.  They did tell me what to do if I ended up experiencing problems.  Luckily for you there are doctors in Florida who do Lap Band all the time and the clinic told me to contact them back in Moncton and they would help me figure out what to do if I got too tight.  There is a lady on YouTube who experienced this so much so that she had to be unfilled for a couple of weeks to let her stomach get back to normal.  So be cautious and pay attention to what you body tells you and do what you need to do to make sure you have an uneventful trip.

I wish I was going with you,  I am so ready to go back to warmer weather, palm trees and relaxation in the sun.

Have a great - awesome - amazing trip.
