I have a nsv. After 6 weeks of missing my morning coffee, I have gotten it back. I got up this am and thought I'd try a cup of coffee. The last one I had tasted horrid. I brewed a small pot and it was wonderful. Small victory but to me a huge step. I LOVE MY COFFEE!!!

So, do you mean this typically does happen to RNY patients? and then you gradually get it back?

No, not to all rnyers but many lose the ability to eat certain foods for awhile. I believe the magic numbers are 3 months and 6 months. After that some rnyer get some things back. I cannot eat meat or cheese. In time I will be able to eat meat but cheese is up in the air. That along with bread and pasta most likely will never come back.
