I saw Dr .B. yesterday and he did a gastroscope and discovered the opening had formed a stenosis. He used the scope and stretched the opening so he says now I will be able to eat. He said to eat liquids today and tomorrow go to soft and work up from there. There is an end in sight and there is food in my future.YES!!!!  Maybe by Tuesday I will be able to eat soft cooked chicken. Here's hoping. Boy, was Dr. B. ever busy yesterday. I was lucky. My appointment was for 3:30 and I was seen by Dr. B. at 4: 45. I guess he needed to catch the gastro team before they left for the day. As it was, when he took me down there, he just caught the last nurse as she was leaving and she stayed to set up  the scope.

wow, i just missed you.,  i had a gastroscope at around 3:00 and was out at 4:30 ish.  I had a great visit with suzanne who was there, what seemed all day.  the good doctor was very busy but in great spirits.  He told me my scope was great.  no ulcers, or erosion or anything.  still not sure whats up with my stomach but he kept me on Losec and will do an ultra sound in a few weeks.  He took a biopsy from my stomach while he was in there and those result should be b ack in a few weeks as well.

MAGGIE, I REALLY HOPE THIS TAKES CARE OF YOUR PROBLEMS AND GIVES YOU SMOOTH SAILING!  WE MUST HAVE BEEN THERE AT THE SAME TIME???  DID YOU RECOGNIZE EITHER PATSY OR ME FROM OUR AVATAR PICS? MAYBE NOT - THOSE PICS ARE NOT ALWAYS THE BEST HAHA.  I WAS ABLE TO RECOGNIZE PATSY - BUT I WAS WATCHING FOR HER TOO. PERHAPS OUR PATHS WILL CROSS AGAIN.  IT WAS REALLY NICE TO MEET PATSY AND HER HUSBAND.  WE GOT TO HAVE QUITE A VISIT (AS YOU SAID, DR. B WAS EXTREMELY BUSY - BUT STILL VERY KIND) AND NOW WHEN I READ HER POSTS THEY WILL HAVE A VOICE   I HOPE THAT I WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE NEXT GROUP MEETING OR MELDING OF THE MINDS!  I AM TERRIBLE WITH NAMES, BUT PRETTY GOOD WITH FACES.

I GOT HOME AROUND 9PM LAST NIGHT AND AT MIDNIGHT I HAD TO TAKE MY SON TO THE HOSPITAL (MY HUSBAND DECIDED TO GO TRUCKING LAST NIGHT - WHAT ARE THE ODDS?)  IAN - MY SON - HAD THE WORST CASE OF SHAKES I'VE EVER SEEN.  THEY ARE NOT SURE IF IT WAS CAUSED BY AN INFECTION AROUND HIS PORT (HE'S ON DIALYSIS) OR IF IT IS THE FLU.  EITHER WAY, NOT GOOD. THEY  ADMITTED HIM AND HE WILL LIKELY BE THERE FOR AT LEAST TWO - THREE DAYS. HE IS VERY ILL AND I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE PRAYERS FROM ANY OF YOU WHO FEEL SO INCLINED - THANKS

So sorry to hear about your son, Suzanne. My heart goes out to you both. My Mom and her twin both died of CRF - I know how terrible kidney disease can be. Sending lots of prayers for both of you.
Hugs,
Shirley

Truly appreciate the prayers.  Ian's kidney failure is a result of diabetes.  He was diagnosed at 22 months of age. So, with the diabetes, dialysis, kidney transplant, and a second bout of dialysis he also need a triple heart bypass.  All of these things together have ravaged his body - but all stemming from the diabetes.  I am really hoping to have my surgery before he has his heart surgery.  If it turns out that they get planned close together i will have to postpone mine.

Thank again.

Suzanne, I will also pray for your son's recovery. diabetes is such an awful disease. It isn't an equal opportunity kind of disease either. Some people are hit so much harder than others. It is so unfair that such a young man would be so ill.

I am so sorry to hear about your son.  At least you were there to take him.  If you had stayed over in Moncton you wouldn't have been there.  We got home around the same time as you.  It was a long drive home.  we stopped at the big stop in aulac for supper to break up the drive.  How did you feel about the paper signing?  did he fold lots of paper ?  LOL.  I forgot to ask ifyou were down on their scales.  I presume so.  anyway.  I really enjoyed our visit and hopefully we will get to gether again soon.  Maybe to do some quilting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Patsy.  My husband called me just as i left the hospital and told me that Ian had been delayed at dialysis because of this infection - just checking it out, swabbing etc.  So it made my decision to not stay over a lot easier.  I went through a drive thru for a bite and then except for refueling, drove straight through.  Paper signing went well and yes - I thought of you as he was doing the orimagi thing LOL.  I assume it a method of filing - papers to deliver to different places.  Yes, I was down 4.85 pounds - 5 pounds in my book.  It was a relief - I can't believe the pressure I feel over the scales.  Makes sense I guess considering what's at stake.  Apparently the next weigh in is the BIGGIE.  I do understand it's important to shrink that liver!  Funny, I've thought about getting smaller in a lot of places - but my liver wasn't one of them LOL

I am sure we will meet again - quilting or otherwise.  I recently finished a bargello heart quilt top.  I will PM you a photo some time.
