More Info

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me any info on Dr.Beausoleil and Dr. Savoie. I have read a little about both of them. But haven't been able to find a whole lot....I'm going to my family doctor on Friday. I will get him to send a referral to both.  I had read that Dr. Beausoleil makes you lose weight while you are waiting for your surgery,before you start your optifast for two weeks? And if you don't then he postpones your surgery, is this true? I have not heard to much about Dr. savoie other then people are waiting to hear updates, about when his office will be up and running again. Any more info will be appreicated.

All doctors doing lap band surgery on qualified patients (high BMI) need to get you to lose weight to shrink the size of your liver.  He can't band you while the liver is too large.  It can get damaged.  so really you should want any reputable surgeon to request weight loss prior to surgery.  Plus it helps you get ready for the changes ahead of you.  It's not a huge amount that you have to lose but if you gain during the process especially close to surgery date, they will postpone you because it's not safe to proceed with an enlarged liver.
