So let's be honest

How is everyone doing? So I decided to be nosy and ask the questions weighing on my mind lately.

1# Patsy- how is the stomach? Did the meds Dr. B prescribe help? How is your experience with the Band so far? Friend or enemy?

2# Maggie – Are you getting better with each day? You have lost a significant amount of weight and I do hope you are feeling better. Is this normal? Did you discuss with another RNY patient to see if you experiences were similar? I wish you the best Maggie. Keep us posted.

3# Charline- How have you been feeling? Do you feel fully recovered from Surgery? What eating stage are you at now? How are your scars?  Was this worst than expected or better? Do you feel hungry?

Yeah I know lots of nosy questions but I’m worried about you guys!!!!

Love,

M

Thank you for asking scartears. No I don't feel any better. I might have a stricture so I cannot eat anything except liquids. I am trying to keep liquids down. I will see Dr.B when he returns and he can decide if it is a stricture or not. I've lost 14 pounds since surgery. That is about average weight loss, I guess. From what i hear from other RNYers, each experience is different and something that has happened to them may or may not happen to you. I have gotten the feeling from asking other RNYers that the worst part is the irst 3 to 6 months for things not going right. Others are absolutely fine from day one.So i guess i'll just have to hang in there for the next 8 weeks to 5 months and I should be fine.  Here's looking forward to August.

I just think that having to wait until March 13th when you are feeling miserable is terrible!

Oh well, some consolulation, I will be fine in september. Hopefully this will only last until May or so. Looking forward to actually being able to taste good food again. Since surgery, everything tastes absolutelt terrible. I can no longer even eat most things because they taste so bad.Time will fix this.

Hi thanks for asking.  I still love my band (Felix),  it works for me.  I still have stomach issues and still on meds, but I don't blame the band for that.  It's in my bigger stomach.  I'm still losing consistently and very happy about that.  the band works well when you follow the band rules.  I'm glad I got it.  I love FELIX!  He's awesome.

I have been feeling well, since about day 4.  I think I feel fully recovered, but today I went to Costco and almost passed out.  I am still on the full liquid diet, but I am not hungry. Basically, I take in calories every couple of hours so my blood sugar is pretty stable; so no hunger. The first 36 hours at home were about the worst thing I have ever been through- worse than gall stones, kidney stones, pancreatitus and child birth. However, the pain could have been managed with stronger meds, if I had only been told.  Some things were a lot better than I expected. Drinking and swallowing have been very easy- I expected some problems.  I have been able to consume the full amounts of fluids, from the start. The scars- they look real good. 3 of the 5 look healed. The other 2 are red but not infected. the staples are a pain. I think they could come out and am temper to out myself but I don't want to deal with the lecture from Dr B.
