Strei strips would NEVER be used to close a multi layer surgical incision. They are meant only for dermis and subdermis incisions. I worked in an emergency room for 4 years and have applied steri strips more times than I have brushed my teeth, Anything deeper than subcutaneous must be stitched or glued.

The steri strips are great to use on children though. No pain or discomfort on application. We used to apply Friars Balsam around the wound so the strips would hold better.

You are the nurse, I have seen glue and strips together on small wounds- probably not a surgucal wound.
