Wow - you're home already? I thought you'd be in for at least a couple of days. Glad surgery went well. Ice chips are a big help when you're dry and on restricted fluids. They are wonderful to suck on.

I thought about you all day yesterday. So glad to know that all went well. Hope you're feeling better soon and can figure out a way to keep those pills down.

Gentle hugs,
Shirley

I had a band and they send you home the same day. I think that's crazy. I have had several surgeries and this is the worse I have ever felt. Certainly is the worse pain control.
Thanks for the good thoughts and gentle hugs.

Hi Charline,

Glad to hear you made it home safely.  Wow they give you dilodids....I can't wait for surgery now....LOL.

Can't wait to hear all the details of your journey (after you are rested, of course).  I live in Fredericton Charline, so if you need ANYTHING, just let me know.

Glad you are home and in one piece. Dilaudid will cause major nausea. Be certain to take gravol with it. Be careful with gulping your drinks. Small swollows. Your pharamasist may have ideas about things you might try to drink, if not don't hesitate to call The Dumont Crew. Glad you're all done and home.

I have not had any nausea. Drinking, burping and passing intestinal gas has not been a problem. Mind you the last 2 can be painful because exerting the effort causes other pain. It was a harrowing trip to Moncton, took almost 3 hours instead of 1.5 hours. We accidentally left 45 minutes earlier than planned. Thanks goodness we did or I would have been late. We planned to leave at 6:00. Some how I changed the time on the clock to an hour ahead. We didn't realize my mistake until we got in the car. We thought we were 15 minutes behind schedule (6:15)  and when we looked at the car clock and it was 5:15. That was a stroke of good luck because we arrived at the hospital about 8:10. An hour later would have made me too late.

Good to hear you're home and doing well Charline. I found the first 24 hours the worst. I stopped taking the dilodid after the 1st day and was taking tylenol 1 instead.

As the days goe by, it does become easier to take the fluids in. Welcome to the Loser's Bench Charline!

You are right about the first 24 hours being the worst. In the middle of last night. I started to feel better. Instead of feeling like I was run over by an 18 wheeler, I was feeling like I wa**** by a dump truck! LOL        I don't have a problem taking in the fluids, I have to watch that I don't over do it.
Thanks for the welcome to the losers bench!
