question for those of you who are trying to quit
I noticed recently that a couple of our waiters are trying to quit. I am wondering if any of you have heard of Chantix. Do you know if it is available in Canada? I have a friend who is despirate to quit smoking and has tried it all. I had read mention of it on this site but can't remember if it was a Canadian post. I would appreciate anything you can tell me for my friend. He is really hoping to find something that will help him.
Thanks,
Ann

Yep, I am on it. I've been smoking for 32 years (since I was 10) and i've got my first week in smoke free. I would never have thought I could do it. It is called Champix and my benefits covered it where they wouldn't cover other methods so that is good. There is no serious medicine in it and no nicotine. It just makes me sick to my stomach when I first take it but as soon as I eat, I'm ok. It just seems to make it easier to not smoke. Ya just don't enjoy it as much. It didn't work that well for me at first but I don't think I was really ready to quit. I'm doing fine now. Hope this helps. Starr
My husband and I quit smoking on June 24/08 with the help of Champix. I strongly recommend it. My husband drives truck and thats all he did, I never thought it would work on him. Unfortunetly, our health plan did not cover it so it runs about $60 for two weeks and they recommend being on it for 12 weeks. My husband and I stopped after 6 weeks and felt great. Like Star said, it makes you feel ill when you smoke therefore you don't even want it. It's not like zyban, which is a anti depressent.
