Email correspondance with Bathurst Hospital - nothing exciting.
This is what I got back...No real answer....
We are presently working on a feasibility study for bariatric surgery at the ChaleurRegionalHospital. Therefore, I don’t have any information regarding the readiness of the clinic. I will suggest you to communicate with Dr Marc Savoie’s office regarding your treatment.
This is what I sent...
To whom it may concern, I am waiting for bariatric surgery with Dr Marc Savoie. Do you have any information on when the clinic will be up and running? Or if I have a date in OR booked yet. I need to know this information, as my work is asking for details. I have attempted to contact Dr. Savoie/Dr Bartlett’s office, however, the receptionist has no detailed information on the readiness of the clinic.

What the heck is a feasbility study, at this point. He never should have started seeing patients if nothing is confirmed yet. I feel so bad that you guys are left hanging like that. Hopefully it won't be much longer.

This makes me very VERY nervous. I have such a bad feeling All this time that I'm not sure if it's "feasible", what will happen next if it's not???? All this time wasted that I could've been on Dr. B's list. I need someone to come up with an answer that will confirm that it "WILL" happen even if it is next year.

I will admit - I became frustrated at the topic of "feasibility" but I've calmed down. Really, look at the definition left by catinthefiddle: "or the discipline of planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives." We know that they are doing exactly that - planning, and organizing, training, etc. Really, the more time they take on that aspect, the better - right?
I have no doubt that there will be Lap Band surgeries happening. Now, I was told April, and I honestly think that we all need to expect at *least* that time frame. Maybe the reason they don't give us exact dates - or even rough estimates - is that it's just too hard to tell at this point. And, if they say "it'll be 2 months," and it ends up being THREE months, then they have to deal with a large group of patients calling in and asking more questions. I do agree though, that someone at the hospital needs to be saying this. Or saying SOMETHING.
It really IS frustrating, but there's nothing we can do. I'm sure they're doing everything they can on their end. But I don't think that we need to worry about surgeries not happening. They'll happen. In the meantime I guess we all need to take care of ourselves: exercise, and eat properly. It's not wasted time, is what I'm saying.
Anita.

Ahhh, the voice of reasoning !!! Your right , we do get flustrated & they should have someone tell us a but more information on what is happening . They know we are all waiting & sitting on pins & needles ...just a few words would make us ALL feel better. I know they wouldn't go through all of seeing patients & giving us the go ahead for surgery etc, it wouldn't be worth the doctor's time & what kind of game would that be . I'm like you , the sooner the better ,but patience is a virtue .
