I can't believe I turned down a Fill

The doctor's office called and wanted me to have a fill and I TURNED IT DOWN?  Yup I did.  I explained to Nathalie that I am going on this cruise and that I didn't want to end up coping with a relatively new fill or issues surrounding it so far away from home.  I told her I am doing fine and although my weightloss has slowed down I am doing okay hanging out with Will Power and that I will be fine until I get back from the Caribbean.  So she is going to call me in a couple of weeks when she has her schedule for March and we will set something up for the 16 or 17 when I get back.

I would love to have a fill and drop some pounds quicker but I also have to consider that some of the places I am going to visit have really lousy health care and I doubt that the ship's doctor is equipped to handle lap band issues.

So I can't believe I turned down my first fill.  But - once I get back from the Caribbean - look out.  In the meantime, while travelling, I will continue to try to make wise choices and the extra walking and swimming should help me to lose a bit more weight.

Anywho - that is the latest in the continuing saga of my band AKA She Who Must Be Obeyed.

Not to worry Ann. I'm sure you'll do fine on your cruise. You've been doing so well these past few weeks with just old Will Power. The last thing you need is to get a fill and have it be too tight or something while so far frm home. When you get back you'll be looking forward to your fill. I think you've made the right decision. Have fun on your trip.

So what if all you do is maintain your weight loss- it wouldn't be the end of the world. How many skinny people can say they maintained during a cruise!!!

There's my pal Charline - looking at the other side of that coin.  I love that about you Charline.  Your take on things is really neat.  I can tell you this.  Last cruise, which was my first cruise I weighed about 40 pounds more than I do now and I maintained my weight on that trip.  So I know I can do the same this time.  I am stoked to be going and optimistic that I will have no problems to speak of.

Thanks for your encouraging words.  You and Maggie both.

I am aiming for March 16 or 17 and considering that surgery was Dec 2 that is a long time without a fill.  But I have a good mindset and I am being totally positive about it.  Here I am 9 weeks out from surgery and no fill.  Man is he ever running behind.  By the time I get home and get a fill I will be 15 weeks out - over double the normal wait time.  It will be interesting to see how the fill and the weight loss afterwards will go.

I would love to go for a fill with you. We could go shopping after for new skinny clothes ha ha,

Later gater,

Is it normal to go about nine weeks before they call to schedule your first fill?

9 weeks is a long time according to Nathalie.  She said usually 6 weeks after surgery and then 6 to 8 after that so ya it will be a long time for me.  The doctor is behind on fills apparently.

Ann,

I believe you made a good decision for you and will do very well with Will on the cruise - keep him busy dancing, swimming and walking so that he doesn't even miss the buffet bar.  Plus I think it will be less stressful to be fill free for the time being and not have the possibility of sliming or getting stuck and not having proper medical personnel to treat any lapband issues.

My thoughts exactly.  I will let you know how I manage trust me.  I think of you guys on here before anyone else when I have an NSV or when I have things happen like turning down a fill.  So the forum will be the first to know how the trip goes and all.
