Affordable Vitamins for Canadian RNY Patients!
For all of you out there who have struggled with importing Bariatric Vitamins and the HUGE customs brokerage fee that result from Fed Ex and UPS - I wanted to share this!
I have jut found www.bariatricchoice.com. Not only are their vitamins the same price as www.bariatriceating.com but they give you 10% off every order over $99 (and more if you order more) AND free shipping to Canada AND they ship USPS so you only have to pay the taxes and customs charges - not the additional brokerage fee (that usually was $50 per shipment for me)
I have easily saved 50% by ordering through BariatricChoice.com.
I wanted to share because this is just so damned expensive - and considering the times - a $100 in my pocket is better than in someone else's!
No - I am not getting paid for this (I know - it sounds like a infomercial!!!!) am just so relieved to be able to find something that is affordable that I wanted to share....help my Canadian Brothers and Sisters out!
Good Luck!

At the risk of sounding really stupid I did not think we needed mega amounts of vitamins post RNY. Rinette told me, I'd need only Centrum Forte and later calcium citrate and may or may not need an iron suppliment. That does not seemlike it would be a big expence at the local pharmacy. Am I missing something?
Thank you so much for this. I have been looking around, trying to stock up on vitamins, with my surgery coming closer every day(I do not have a date, but was told by April). Do you have a vitamin regimin? Can you share? I know everyone is different, however, I am seeing a very common theme amongs many DS patients in what their vitamin regimin is.

I disagree that we don't need vitamins - if you have an RNY , then you have issues with malabsorbtion. You need industrial vitamins (and quality vitamins) and some vitamins you need to be careful to get the right kind so it will absorb (Calcium).
I take a multivitamin, a vitamin D, vitamin b12, iron and calcium. I also take Omega 3s for a different issue.

Hi,
One thing to consider if you have the RNY is you need to be sure if it is distal, medial or proximal....this will determine how much you malabsorb and therefore what your vitamin requirements are.
If you have a RNy and don't know...I think you should ask your Dr...otherwise how are you sure you have enough vits?
Thx,
Catherine
