Good on you girlie.  You have come a long way in a short time.  I know it feels like it took forever but really you have no idea how fast things will go from here on in.  Once you sign those papers its like riding a jet.

I quit smoking 22 years ago, with a relaxation tape of all things.  I walked and drank more water and listened to the tape and have managed to stay smoke free for 22 years.  If I can do it, anyone can 'cause I loved my smokes and would light up in the night if I got up to go to the bathroom.  I went from a pack and a half to 2 packs a day to none in a week and stayed that way.  It was tough and the days were soooo long but I got there and you will too.

I quit smoking 5 years ago after 30 years of puffing. Yes, it was hard. Not impossible but really hard. i used Nicoderm and knitting kneedles. I tried Habitril and the other transdermals but the only one that worked for me was Nicoderm. I only knew how to knit scarves and dishcloths. That's what I did. I knit a throw for the couch, loveseat and chair. i went to dollar store and value village and bought cheap wool and I knit until the urge to smoke was gone. Good Luck.

Well I have faith in you because if my husband (who is a truck driver and thats all he ever did was smoke) and I can quit, so can you.  Just remember its like weight lose, you have to take it one day at a time.  The longer you are on the champix without smoking the easier it will get.

I guess I will see you down there since my appointment is at 1:15pm, cutting it pretty close aren't they.....hehe

Hey Jen and Starr, I will be signing my consent on the 19th. I have class on the 18th, or I'd be there with you guys too! Congrats..... Starr, any luck on changing Dr. B's mind?

It may be a hard day for you to not smoke, because you are idle and under stress. Then again, you'd have to go outside in the freezing cold and stand there, so hopefully you'll stay inside and keep warm. Keep your eye on the prize! No smoking = surgery!!! You're doing so well. Keep up the good work.

I wish you could be there with us on the 18th Suzanne but at least we're close. I haven't had the opportunity to try and change his mind until the 18th but let me tell you, I'll be doing some fine begging that day. I assure you, it's not beneath me. LOL. I still haven't had a single puff of a cigarette since the 2nd so I'm doing ok on that part. It's really tough though. My mom is in hospital ( 3 weeks now) and she's taken a turn for the worse so I'm taking the day off work today to be there and I'll work extra hard not to smoke. Starr

Suzanne and Jenn - I am so stoked for you gals to be signing in just a week and a half.  I am following your progress with interest because we chatted and its like you are my kids or something and I am so rooting for you to do well and to be happy with your decisions and with your surgeries.  I have started writing dates down so on those days I can keep good thoughts for all my friends on here.  Charline, you guys, Maggie and all.

I guess you can say I am kind of an agnostic, not religious in any way so my version of prayer is to hold your name and my image of you in my head and think only positive thoughts for you.  I think of you smiling as you sign your papers and I think of you coming out of the OR all smiles.

Oh my this is so exciting.  I am just so happy for you to have come this far.   I hope we get to meet someday so I can give you all a big old hug.

Realmessy,

Thanks for your positive thoughts. I know I will be scared right before surgery, and it helps to know people will be putting positive vibes out there. I am not religious either!
