How long was the wait for you?
HI ladies
I dont get much chance to write posts often but I do try to catch up on all the posts every few days...I must say I love this forum. I am noticing alot of you are getting calls or going for pre-op etc. How long did it take for you to receive your first phone call from Dr B's office after your referral was sent? I'm told its 5 yrs which is very discouraging since I've only been on it since July 2008 even though I was going to Dr Dornan the Endencronologist here in SJ for a year prior. I called Dr Dornans office again today and he still hasnt sent my referral to Dr Savoies yet, I requested in just before Christmas. I also have gone to see my family Dr and requested a referral for both doctors since Dr Dornan told me that the referral does not have to come from the Endecronologist anymore...new rules he said. I've been waiting almost 2 weeks from my own family Dr to send it, I call his receptionist every couple days I am trying to set myself up for a realistic timerame...any comments would help.

Dr S's office was calling referrals upon the receipt of the referral, but he stopped seeing patients for consult a couple of months ago, until after his clinic is up and running. that is supposed to happen very soon (but who knows for sure?). Originally he told people they would have surgery before Christmas, but there must have been delays in the construction of the new surgical suites in Bathurst.
My original referral to Dr B was sent in November 2003. It was sent back and my doctor was told to send me to the endocrinologist. I was waiting from then to last February 14 to see the endocrinologist. That is when the process changed and Dr B decided who got surgery. I will have surgery on Feb 24th- 1 year and 10 days later. My first appointment with Dr B was October 3rd.

My Dr. sent a referral into Dr. Dornan in 2005. I got in to see him in 2006 and got in to Dr. B in 2008. I've been seeing Dr. Dornan since 2006 and still see him every 4 months.
Sometimes the wait is just maddening. For me it became an all consuming thought. I seldom even left the house, afraid I'd miss "the call". I wouldn't even go on vacation for fear I miss it. Soon I will be finished and will be glad to get my life back.

My family doctor sent a referral to Dr B's office in Moncton in early-mid 2005. I havent had a call yet. But my Dr Maillet sent a referral as well to Dr S in Bathurst for me as well. It is extremly fustrating isnt it ? Hang in there, we all understand how hard it is. I find visiting the chats everyday it helps. Welcome!
